The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series announced that its Friday portion of the Wieland Winter Nationals at Ocala Speedway has been canceled due to a severe weather threat.

The series announced in a press release that forecasted rain and severe thunderstorms throughout the evening hours at the track led to the cancelation of Friday night’s activities. The series stated, “With safety as the top priority for drivers, teams, staff, and fans, officials made the decision following updated weather models indicating a significant chance of heavy rainfall, and potentially severe storm conditions throughout the evening.” It will not be rescheduled.

“We are committed to providing a safe environment for everyone involved,” said Ocala Speedway management. “Given the timing and potential severity of the incoming weather system, canceling Friday’s program is the most responsible course of action.”

While Friday night’s activities have been canceled, Saturday night’s finale is still on the schedule with a full program that will include Allstar Performance Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the 50-lap $25,000-to-win feature.

On-track action for Saturday night will begin with Dirt Draft Hot Laps at 6:00 PM.
