Spencer Hughes and KB Motorsports announced that he has returned to late model competition after parting ways with JCM Motorsports in August.

KB Motorsports made the announcement on Facebook after Hughes drove for the team and RBT Motorsports at Magnolia Motor Speedway this past weekend. The team shared, “This past weekend at Magnolia Motor Speedway, it was confirmed that Spencer Hughes is now the official driver of the RBT Motorsports/KB Motorsports K3.”

“We are delighted to have him on board with this project moving forward. We are currently planning to race a few more times this year together however it is to be determined when and where,” the team added. “At The Cotton Pickin’, Spencer started 5th in the 60 lap main event this past Saturday and finished in 4th on a bottom dominate race track. We are already looking forward to seeing the K3 and Spencer back on the track soon! Thanks to everyone for all of your support as well!”

A member of Hughes’ team added in a separate post on Facebook, “Very thankful to RBT Motorsports and KB Motorsports for this awesome opportunity! Spencer is back in the K3 where his late model career started.”

Hughes exited JCM Motorsports in the middle of August informing FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden, “I’m thankful for all of it, Colten and his family and everyone that’s been with him that’s been able to do it for me the couple years. Just sometimes life takes you down different paths. He wanted to continue pursuing the Lucas Oil Late Model Series and I just wasn’t really in the position at this time to do so.”

“I felt like it was in the best interest for me personally in my life to run more of a regional schedule for the back half of this year until we can get all our ducks in a row,” Hughes added. “Colten wanted to continue on. He wanted to go on Lucas and stuff, and I just believe I have to do what’s right for me and everyone around me. There was no big blow up either. I talked to him, and he talked to his wife. And they understand.”

Since leaving JCM Motorsports, Hughes has been competed at Whynot Motorsports Park with the CRUSA Street Stocks winning a feature on on August 14th. He also competed at Magnolia Motor Speedway with the CRUSA Dirt Late Models on August 23rd and won the feature. At Hattiesburg Speedway he competed in an UMP Style Mod and finished in third. Aside from the fourth place finish in The Cotton Pickin, he finished second at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Friday night during the super late model feature.
