STP Motorsports announced it is seeking legal action against Atomic Speedway and track promoter Charlie Vest after it claims that it was not paid after the team’s driver Bryce Lucius won during “The Night the Stars Come Out” weekend at the end of October.
The team shared on Facebook, “It is sad for me to report that after winning the Sprint Car race at Atomic Speedway on October 25, 2025, STP Motorsports has not been paid the advertised $15,000 winner’s purse.”
While they have not been paid, they did reveal that Atomic Speedway and track promoter Charlie Vest did attempt to pay them at least twice, “Since that race, we have received two separate checks from Atomic Speedway and track promoter Charlie Vest for the $15,000 winnings. Both checks were returned due to insufficient funds. We were later advised that payment would be made via wire transfer, which has not been received as of this posting.”
“Our intent with this post is to inform racers and series that there may be challenges in collecting winnings, based on our direct experience,” it shared. “Each team can make its own decision, but we feel a responsibility to share verified facts.”
The team then announced it would be pursuing legal action against Atomic and Vest, “At this point, we are proceeding with both criminal and civil remedies to recover our unpaid winnings and related damages. This step was not taken lightly but follows multiple broken promises regarding payment.”
“This sport has enough challenges on its own. Teams should not be penalized after competing and winning when purse funds are not available. This post is shared strictly for awareness and due diligence within the racing community,” it concluded.
In the comments of the post, Austin McCarl, who finished 9th in the Saturday night feature in October shared he had not been paid either. McCarl wrote, “I haven’t gotten my money for Saturday either.”
