Tanner English addressed rumors that he will reunite with Riggs Motorsports for the 2026 season.
Earlier this week there was a rumor circulated by Dirt Behind The Scenes that “English is being linked to a possible return to Riggs Motorsports.”
English addressed the rumors informing DirtonDirt.com’s Kyle McFadden that he is receiving support from Scott Riggs, but it is only sponsorship assistance from Riggs Fiber. DirtonDirt.com’s Kevin Kovac shared, “Responding to circulating rumors that he would be rekindling his 2020-22 stint driving full-time for the Scott Riggs-owned team, the 32-year-old racer clarified that he would just be receiving sponsorship assistance from his former car — in the form of Riggs Fiber — and continues looking for additional financial support for his effort based out of a shop in Benton, Ill.”
English’s 2026 season was upended before it began when Coltman Farms Racing announced English would no longer be competing with the team after he chose not to relocate the team’s location in Georgia. Coltman Farms Racing announced on December 9th, “Beginning in 2026, all Coltman Farms Racing teams will be based out of the team’s race shop in Maysville, Georgia. Tanner English, who has been operating the team’s No. 96 entry out of his own shop located in Benton, Illinois, has chosen not to relocate. Coltman Farms Racing wishes Tanner the best in the future. We are grateful for the success we shared together.”
English initially explained the split in a press release through Delph Communication, “It is an unfortunate situation, but I’ll move on and try to put something together for next year.”
He then explained why he chose not to relocate, “My wife and I built a brand-new race shop here in Benton, Illinois that our team was working out of preparing for the 2026 season. Unfortunately, now we are scrambling to try to find something, but there was no way I could relocate having a family and our race shop being located in the heart of late model racing. I want to thank Brett for the opportunity and wish him and his team nothing but success. With that being said, I’m ready to start a new chapter!”
He shared more details with McFadden during the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show, “They kind of knew the deal before I started with them, that that’s what I wanted to do was race out of there. I built that shop to invest back in myself, that way I have a base for somebody and to be attractive to a race team, basically. It’s fully operational and has (an apartment with) bedrooms for crew members and the whole deal.”
“I have that there and the rest of my family there, and I just didn’t need to uproot that,” he reiterated.
English is expected to make his 2026 debut with the Northern Allstars Late Models at Brownstown Speedway on March 14th. He did tease a return of the White Knight on social media last month.
