Tyler Erb questioned why the Wild West Shootout did not toss out Jonathan Davenport after he blocked his pit stall after the two were involved in a lap one incident in their heat race.
On the opening lap, the two started on the front row together and began leaning on each other as the green flag dropped and continued to beat and bang down the front stretch. Davenport did not take too kindly to it and drove up in to Terbo right before they went into turn 1.
Davenport then slid Terbo coming out of 2. Terbo attempted the crossover with a slider going through 3. Davenport appeared to angle his car downward to try to thwart the slider or maybe the bumps in the track helped him, but regardless it led to Terbo going up and over his entire hood and his left rear smashed down on Davenport’s right front fender. The two then slid up to the wall together. Terbo was able to get away while Davenport came to a stop exiting turn 4.

At the conclusion of the heat race, Davenport parked his car in front of Terbo’s hauler and prevented him from parking. The two then confronted each other and exchanged word and shared their perspective on what happened on the track.
Davenport eventually raced his way into the feature finishing fourth in his B-Main. He then started at the tail end of the field in 23rd and drove all the way to second. When he got to Terbo, he threw a tight slider at him, but Terbo tapped the brakes and let him go. Davenport went on to finish in second while Terbo finished fourth.
Speaking to FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden after the feature, Terbo questioned why Davenport was not thrown out by Wild West Shootout officials and speculated that if roles had been reversed he would have been removed.
First, Terbo broke down the incident in the heat race, “We went down the front straightaway and he blew my left side door off. I didn’t turn to the infield. He was in the right part of the race track and he was going to slide me into 1 and I was okay with 2nd. He blew my entire door off. So I got a big run. And honestly, his race craft was off right there. He should have blocked the slider knowing that I’m coming in hot after that. And he didn’t. He definitely didn’t choose to lift. He was trying to wreck me back, which is fair. He tried in the feature too, and I hit the brakes. He ran second. I ran fourth. That’s life and that’s the way it goes.”
Next, he took issue with how Wild West Shootout officials handled Davenport blocking his pit stall, “I don’t agree with-. He was clearly in my pit stall. And that’s clearly stated in every-. I’ve heard all of these rules because I’ve been kicked out of both series. I totally get it. You can’t go to another man’s pit. You can’t do this. You can’t do that. They hold certain people, Jonathan, at a higher pedestal than me. And I’m fine with that. I know my reputation or whatever.”
“But if I pulled to his pit stall tonight and caused a scene, you can bet the farm they throw me out of this place. Anybody that says otherwise is absolutely delusional,” he said. “That’s the only thing that made me upset.”
Erb went on to comment about Davenport’s behavior as well as car owner Lance Landers and his son Jared Landers, “He showed his ass right here. His car owner showed his ass. His son, Jared Landers text me that he’s going to knock my teeth out. Which is fine and dandy. I’m going to sleep. I’m going to drive. Life’s going to go on. He ran second tonight. He pry made another sly comment. It is what it is. But like the class is not there. Ace Doran is a big company. Steve Martin, this guy’s got all the money in the world supposedly. Somebody else’s money he’s spending. And he chooses to come over here and cuss me and tell me that he’s going to put a bounty on my head and all these things. And is it really that important? Is like this the end of the world because you got the [expletive] end of a racing deal? I don’t agree with that.”
“I’ve done my share of stupid stuff,” he admitted. “Knock on wood we made it a good bit and hadn’t had any altercations or anything like that. I’m not going to race Jonathan Davenport, the greatest of all time in his mind, any different than I would race Dustin Sorensen or my best buddy in the world. You give what you get and today in the heat race, he dished it and he couldn’t take it. And then in the feature, he’s a good race car driver. There’s nothing you can take away from that.”
“There’s not classes in this. It’s not a lower class, middle class, and upper echelon. We’re all the same people. It’s basically what I told him. I asked him very straight like, ‘What’s your plan here? Are we going to talk or what are you? And he just wanted to show his ass,” Terbo said. “I disagree with that. Lucas and Outlaws, I would imagine if you read their- I would just be curious how the situation would have played out if I did that.”
