Dirt late model driver Tyler Stevens expressed his frustration after a tire failure derailed his Show Me 100 hopes.
Stevens had set himself up for a solid run in the Show Me 100 qualifying for both A-Main on Thursday and Friday night. He finished 22nd on Thursday night and had a very strong run on Friday that earned him a 7th place finish. Both nights qualified him for Saturday’s main event where he started in 14th. Not only that, but he had a quick car setting the 9th fastest lap during Hot Laps.
Unfortunately, Stevens suffered a major setback early on in the race with a tire failure with 91 laps to go in the race. After changing the tire, Stevens was sent to the rear of the field and never was able to fully recover. He finished 22nd out of the 27 cars that started.
He expressed his frustration in a post to Facebook writing, “Our night was ruined before it started. Bought a brand new Hoosier Racing Tire earlier today mounted it and it made it 2 laps hot lapping and 4 laps in the main before it blew the tread off.”
“Wild we pay $250.00 a tire and it makes it a whopping 6 laps,” he stated. “And before someone gets on here and says everyone else was on the same tire, no they wasn’t 95% of the cars were on the old style tire that’s not available anymore…. Frustrating way to end a good weekend.”
“On to the next one,” he concluded.
