Ahead of Nick Hoffman’s career-defining World 100 win at Eldora Speedway on Saturday night, his car owner Tye Twarog shared what the team’s goals are to finish out 2026 and what they might be in 2027 with Hoffman leaving for Spire Motorsports.

On Thursday ahead of the World 100, Spire Motorsports and Hoffman announced that Hoffman would operate a full-time dirt late model team for Spire Motorsports with the intention of chasing a national championship with the World of Outlaws Late Models or the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

The team stated in a press release, “Spire Motorsports will expand its grassroots racing footprint and field a full-time entry in 2027 with dirt late-model standout Nick Hoffman handling the team’s full-time driving chores.”

“This is another important moment in bringing someone of Nick Hoffman’s caliber to our organization,” said Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports. “Nick is a unicorn. He is a championship-caliber driver and a successful entrepreneur with an innate business sense. He has a great family with a proud lineage in our industry. At the same time, he is fantastic with partners, has been a great coach to Carson (Hocevar) and, most importantly, stands on the gas. Spire Motorsports is very fortunate to have him join us on this journey and go on the road full time with our dirt late model program next season.” 

“I’m very excited about this opportunity and to be a part of Spire Motorsports,” said Hoffman. “Having a group like Spire believe in me and give me the chance to help build this program is incredible. Walking around the shop, it’s very apparent that everyone there is a hardcore racer, and I think we all have the same mindset about what we want to accomplish. Opportunities like this are something you dream about. I can’t wait to get to work and build a high-caliber dirt late model team that matches the standard of Spire Motorsports’ highly successful NASCAR program.” 

The World of Outlaws spoke with Tye Twarog, Hoffman’s current car owner following the announcement, but ahead of the team’s defining World 100 win on Saturday night. Amidst that conversation, Twarog shared that the team’s primary goal to conclude 2026 is to win the World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship.

The team currently sits in second place, 112 points behind Bobby Pierce, but believe with the tracks that conclude the schedule they are still in the hunt to win it. In 2025, Hoffman was 124 points behind Pierce heading into the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and shaved off 68 points to finish in second, 56 points back.

“I want to win a championship so bad. That’s why we all do this: to be the best,” Twarog said. “Second place does stink sometimes, but we want to win a championship.”

And he does not think they are out of it in 2026, “We were so close. We made a bunch of points up last year at Charlotte. So we can get into Charlotte, keep it under 100 points maybe, I think we got a shot. Right now, we got to chip away a little bit more and I think we’ll be fine. He’s got the new out on his deal now, so hopefully we can just race here for the next two months and try to win some races.”

As for his plans for 2027 after Hoffman joins Spire Motorsports, Twarog has not made any decisions. He shared, “We don’t know what we’re doing about our race team yet. We’re all different directions on that right now.”

“The No. 9 will be on the World of Outlaws next year. It might be on as a car owner. It might on as a sponsor. It might on as a partnership to the team. We don’t know,” he added. “The main goal is win the championship this year or do the best we can. But next year’s plans, right now, we’re listening to offers right now. There’s no secret. We’re going to listen to whatever anyone has on the table. I’m going to do it the smart way.”

“I’m very proud of the team. And for next year, I would say I will be involved somehow in the sport, I promise you that,” he declared. “Like I said, I’m not saying this is the end. I’m saying who knows what’s going to happen in the future.”
