For the 22nd time in the storied history of the event, the FK Rod Ends Tarheel Race will be held this Friday night, October 9, but it will take place for the very first time at North Georgia Speedway! The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Showtime Properties will once again sanction the single-day shootout, which will boast a $6,000 winner’s check and will pay each feature starter at least $600 for taking the green flag. Cory Hedgecock, of Loudon, Tennessee, is the defending Tarheel Race winner, as he took home the checkered flag in 2025 when the event was held at I-75 Raceway.
On Friday at North Georgia Speedway, the pit gate will open at 3:00pm, while the grandstands will start to allow fans into the facility at 4:00pm. The drivers meeting is set for 6:30pm and hot laps will light up the racetrack starting at 7:00pm. Grandstand admission will be $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids ages 5-11. Pit admission will be $45.00 for adults and $25.00 for kids ages 5-11. Children ages 4 and under will be admitted onto the grounds for FREE!
Joining the SAS Super Late Models in action on Friday at the Chatsworth, Georgia venue will be the 604 Late Model ($1,000 to win), 602 Late Model ($800 to win), Sharp Mini Late Model ($650 to win), Open Wheel Modified ($450 to win), Front Wheel Drive ($400 to win), Pony ($300 to win), and Stock FWD ($150 to win) divisions. After eighteen Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series shows so far in 2026, there have been fourteen different winners – Brandon Overton (3 victories), Tucker Anderson (3 victories), Chris Madden, Trae Kirk, Bo Slay, Sam Seawright, Shane Clanton, Michael Page, Jadon Frame, Zack Mitchell, Garrett Smith, Kaede Loudy, Dale McDowell, and Cory Hedgecock. Anderson currently sits atop of the SAS point standings by 138 markers over Kendall Franklin. Dillon Daves, Billy Franklin, and Will Hicks round out the top five in the latest version of the tour standings.
Super Late Model body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series – among others.
