Alex Vance is not satisfied with besting Cleetus McFarland in the Altima 600 that took place this past weekend at the Freedom Factory in Bradenton, Florida, he wants to beat him at the Gateway Dirt Nationals in December as well.

Ahead of the race, Vance shared he had some “unfinished business” with McFarland after the two got into each other during the January running of the race with Vance saying his chances of winning were ended “because [McFarland] wrecked me.”

Vance wrote on Facebook, “Cleetus McFarland and Alex Vance got a little unfinished business!😆  He got me this round, but I’m not done yet! 😈😆“

Vance finished the business with the Altima 600 by becoming the first person to win the race twice while McFarland finish 49th. However, in victory lane, he added some more business and requested to battle McFarland at the Cody Sommer promoted Gateway Dirt Nationals at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Vance declared, “I’m a Dirt Super Late Model driver, but I want more guys to come see how much fun this is because this is an absolute blast! Also, I’m going to need Cleetus to get up with Cody Sommer and get me an invite to that Dirt in December at the Dome. I’ve got a Super, but I haven’t got an invite so maybe Cleetus can help me out with that.”

McFarland will make his Dirt Super Late Model debut at the Gateway Dirt Nationals in Sommer’s Race DRT prepared car. McFarland announced that he would make his debut at the event in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel where he showcased some testing he did alongside veteran driver and Victory Seats owner Chris Ferguson at East Lincoln Speedway.

In the video, McFarland shared how the deal was brokered, “Cody hit me up. Actually reached out through Carson Hocevar, who races the event. Carson was like, ‘Dude, you got to come.’ And Cody said, ‘Hey, I own a team, too. I also own the event and I want you to race in my car.”

During one portion of the test session, McFarland ran a fast lap of 16.58 seconds. He improved a tenth nearly every single lap before laying down the 16.58 lap. McFarland then got out of the car and watched Ferguson rip a few laps around the track. After Ferguson was done, McFarland said, “We’re basically same lap times.”

McFarland also revealed that before he competes in the Gateway Dirt Nationals he will take part in at least one more test session. Additionally, he suggested that Carson Hocevar test with him, “I’m trying to get Carson to come so that I can run cars with him and pass and do all that stuff. I can see that being dangerous for both of our vehicles, but I got to get a little bit of passing data before I just go.”

Sommer indicated he would work on it, “We’ll line that up next time.”

At the beginning of this month Sommer and the Race DRT team shared a first look at the wrap McFarland will have on the car.

The Gateway Dirt Nationals take place from December 3-5, 2026 at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. A temporary 1/5 mile dirt track is built inside the former NFL stadium. The event is headlined by Dirt Super Late Models with Modifieds on the undercard. Preliminary racing action takes place on Thursday and Friday night with a Saturday night finale. The Saturday finale for the Dirt Super Late Models paid $70,000 in 2025. The prelim features on Thursday and Friday night paid $10,000 to-win. All the racing action is available to watch on FloRacing if you cannot make it in person.
