Vic Hill shared an update on the potential sale of Volunteer Speedway revealing he does not know what the future holds for the track.
On Sunday, October 11th, Hill announced that the Speedway and the surrounding property had been sold by track owners Joe and Phyllis Loven and the new owners did not plan on keeping it as a racetrack. In a now-deleted Facebook post, Hill wrote, “The facility has been sold, and it will not continue as a racetrack. Racing at Volunteer Speedway is over.”
“Despite all the work that has been done, we were not able to reach the point where the operation could support the purchase of the property,” he added. “The new owners have plans for this property that do not include racing. Because of that, we have to be honest with everyone who cares about this place.”
From there, he announced that the FloRacing Night in America series race scheduled for October 22nd would be the final race ever held at the track, “The race scheduled for October 22 will be the last race ever held at Volunteer Speedway. This is not something we say lightly. The thought of 52 years of racing history coming to an end is heartbreaking. But we believe everyone deserves to know where things stand.”

However, Hill later deleted the post and spoke to a number of media outlets, stating he is not sure if the sale is happening.
Kyle McFadden at FloRacing reported, “Hill quickly removed the post after speaking with track owner Phyllis Loven, who, according to Hill, clarified that a sale had not been completed. Hill said he made the announcement believing the sale was moving forward and wanting to give the track a proper sendoff if Oct. 22 proved to be its final race.”
Additionally, Hill informed McFadden he is not sure what the future holds for the facility, “I really don’t know.”
On top of his comments to McFadden, Dirt Behind The Scenes also spoke with Hill. The Facebook page reported that Hill was informed that a multi-million dollar offer is on the table with a December 1st closing date.
Furthermore, the page reported that the reason Hill made the initial announcement was to give “people who truly love Volunteer Speedway to have the opportunity to enjoy the place one last time if this does end up being the end.”
StockCarReport.com attempted to contact Hill, but was informed he was no longer giving interviews. However, as McFadden reported, I was informed that he does not know what the current state of the sale is or if it is even still happening.
