The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series announced an update to its points format earlier this week.

In a press release on May 13th, the series announced:

  • Drivers will still be allowed to drop their two worst points races from their final championship total, including races they do not attend.
  • The first dropped race will begin applying following the completion of the Memorial Day weekend West Virginia tripleheader.
  • The second dropped race will begin applying once two additional race nights have been completed following the West Virginia events.
  • No drivers may drop Championship Weekend races.

Additionally the series stated, “Also, as previously announced, drivers will only count their two best finishes from the three-race West Virginia swing toward their championship points total, and those events may count as a driver’s dropped races.”

The reason for these changes is due to the multiple rainouts the series has suffered throughout the beginning of its 2026 season. Those rainouts include its Speedweeks races at Needmore and Swainsboro at the end of January and the beginning of February. The series also lost two races scheduled for Whynot Motorsports Park at the beginning of May.

The series has only run a total of four races so far, but the first one at Needmore at the beginning of January does not count towards the series points. The series was initially going to award points to a driver’s best finish out of the four races during Speedweeks, but the rain nixed those plans and it became a non-points race.

The series is back in action On May 22nd at Elkins Speedway for the Frederick Memorial, which pays $10,052 to-win. It will continue its trip through West Virginia with a stop at Tyler County Speedway on May 23rd with $12,000 on the line for the winner and conclude at West Virginia Motor Speedway on May 24th with $15,000 going to the winner.

Hudson O’Neal currently leads the series’ points after a win at the Talladega Short Track, a second place on the first night at North Georgia Speedway and win on the second night. Zack Mitchell is second just 20 points behind. He finished 7th at Talladega, won the opening night at North Georgia and finished fourth on the second night. Joseph Joiner sits in third, 40 points behind. Ashton Winger is in fourth 42 points out and Dale McDowell and Jadon Frame are currently tied for 5th. They are both 70 points back.
