Dillard Hatchett announced that he will no longer follow the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series in 2026, but will instead do a pick-and-choose schedule.

The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series announced that Hatchett planned to follow the tour for a second year back in January. The series shared on Facebook, “After taking on one of the toughest tests in regional racing as a Super Late Model rookie last season, Dillard Hatchett is locked in for the 2026 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and ready to build on his solid 2025 campaign.”

Hatchett also shared a tentative 2026 schedule that had all the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series races on the schedule. Additionally, it indicated he would follow the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series full-time as well.

It was confirmed he was planning to follow the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series with the series announcing in February, “Coming off his first full season of Super Late Model competition, Dillard Hatchett will return to the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series for the 2026 season. The Tennessee native finished runner up to Dalton Cook in the 2025 points chase, recording eight top ten finishes and three top five efforts. This season, Hatchett will be aiming for his first series victory and the $15,000 championship payout.”

In April, Hatchett shared that he and his team would not be able to make it to Cochran Motor Speedway for the Southern Thunder’s race there due to hurting a car, but indicated that they did “plan to still run with STSDS the rest of the year!”

Now, a month later from that post and ahead of The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series’ races at Waycross and Needmore this weekend, Hatchett shared he’s moving to a pick-and-choose schedule. He wrote on Facebook, “Things don’t always work out like you plan them so sometimes you have to do what makes the most sense for now and that’s what we plan on doing as we move into a pick and choose type schedule, wasn’t a easy decision but we look forward to having some fun and regrouping to following a series next year!”

Instead of competing with Southern Thunder at Waycross and Needmore, Hatchett will make the haul this weekend to compete with the Southern All Stars at Buckshot Speedway and Duck River Raceway Park.

Hatchett was 14th in points for the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series after three races. He’s 100 points behind current leader Hudson O’Neal. Hatchett finished 17th at the Talladega Short Track to open the season. He had another 17th when the series competed at North Georgia Speedway on April 10th and improved one position to 16th on the second night at the track on April 11th.

Given he did not compete at Cochran Motor Speedway, the only race the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series has run for points this year, he doesn’t have any points with them.
