Lee Pulliam announced that he and Brenden “Butterbean” Queen are reuniting for seven late model stock car races this year including three CARS Tour races and the majority of the Virginia Triple Crown.
Pulliam made the announcement on Facebook with a hype video celebrating the duo’s past success together, which included a Hampton Heat win as well as the 2024 CARS Tour championship. Pulliam wrote, “The Bean is back! Brenden “Butterbean” Queen is returning to drive for us for seven races beginning on June 13 at the CARS Tour race at Dominion Raceway!”
Queen shared in his own post, “Excited to get back to my roots and do some short-track racing with Lee Pulliam Performance and the 03 team.”
He shared more details speaking to FloRacing, “This is super cool for me, because my time with Lee was a very special moment in my career. I truly feel that without those two seasons with him, I probably don’t get the opportunities that I have now to race with Ram and Kaulig in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. I’m probably still racing Late Models on the weekly level if I didn’t get those years with him. So it’s really cool to get to race with him again, because win or lose we always have a good time. I know the car will be good, and it’ll be fun to lay it all out on the track.”
Pulliam added, “I’m so excited to go racing with Butterbean again. We won a handful of races together, a CARS Tour championship, and he became a brother to me in a short period of time. I’m so thrilled for him that he’s moved on to bigger things in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, but I’m so thankful that we’re going to get to race together seven times this summer and fall. I can’t wait to get to Dominion with him next month and chase more trophies.”
The duo will reunite beginning with the CARS Tour race at Dominion Raceway on June 13th. He’ll also compete at the CARS Tour races at North Wilkesboro on July 17th and Florence Motor Speedway on September 4th. Before those races, he’ll also compete in the first two legs of the Virginia Triple Crown. First, he’ll race at South Boston on June 27th in the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 and then at the Hampton Heat 200 on July 25th at his home track of Langley Speedway.
He’ll close out the year at Florence Motor Speedway on November 21st for the South Carolina 400 and then at Southern National Motorsports Park on November 29th for the Thanksgiving Classic.
Queen explained why he decided on these races, “I picked the SoBo 200 because I finished second in it, but that’s one of the crown jewels I haven’t won. If I can win that I’d really just be missing a clock at Martinsville. It’s just cool to be in the conversation to win a fourth Hampton Heat. That one will be cool to race in front of my hometown crowd and the OG Bean Nation fans. I picked a bunch of these crown jewels because it’ll be cool to add another one of those to what I’ve already accomplished.”
Of note, Queen won’t be competing at Langley Speedway when the CARS Tour pulls into Virginia on May 30th. He has a truck race on the 29th at Nashville Superspeedway. Also missing from the seven races is the Valley Star Credit 300, the final leg of the Virginia Triple Crown, which is scheduled for September 26th this year. He’ll be at Kansas Speedway that day competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Queen is currently 13th in the Truck standings. He’s 151 points behind fellow former CARS Tour and late model stock competitor Kaden Honeycutt, who won the most recent CARS Tour race at Ace Speedway.
