Anthony Macri will return to his Macri Motorsports 39M Sprint Car to compete in the upcoming PA Speedweek pending a successful test session.

Pennsylvania Speedweek announced at a press luncheon at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing that “Anthony Macri announced his plan to return to defend his Speedweek Title pending a successful test session this week!”

Macri has not competed in a Sprint Car since he was involved in a violent wreck at Williams Grove back on April 3rd.

The team shared that Macri was taken to a hospital following the wreck for evaluation and was “diagnosed with compression fractures of T4 and T5.”

Macri was one of the hottest drivers in the country before his injury. In 12 feature starts, he had 3 wins, 7 top 5s, and 9 top 10s. Two of his three wins came with the Outlaws at Volusia Speedway Park on February 7th and then again on March 2nd. He added a third win at BAPS Motor Speedway on March 15th.

That success continued with Macri out of the car. The team tapped Kasey Kahne to fill in for him. Kahne piloted the 39M to an 11th at Lincoln Speedway. When the Outlaws rolled into town three days later he improved to 9th at the track. Then on May 8th at Williams Grove with the Outlaws he got his first ever win with the series. Overall, Kahne had 1 win, 4 top 5s, and 6 top 10s in 9 feature starts with the team.

Pennsylvania Speedweek begins this upcoming Friday, June 26 at Williams Grove and will go for the next 9 days until it concludes on Sunday, July 5th at Selinsgrove Speedway.
