Jeremy Steele announced that he and Billy Hicks have parted ways.
Steele shared in a post to Facebook that he will be back in his family owned No. 22 car as they compete with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Lavonia and Cherokee Speedway this weekend.
Steele shared, “We’ll be back in the Xcell Grading & Waterproofing #22 this weekend at Lavonia and Cherokee with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, and moving forward as well.”
“Billy Hicks Racing and I have parted ways,” he wrote. “I can’t thank Billy enough for the opportunity and the experience gained in the races we got to run together, but I’m looking forward to getting back in my regular equipment and getting back to work.”
“If any partners would like to come on board, any support would help as we try to return to a full schedule in this equipment,” he concluded.
On top of the two Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series races, Steele will also compete at Harris Speedway with the Southern Nationals on Tuesday, July 14th and then at Friendship Speedway with the Carolina Class on Saturday, July 18th.
As for the Billy Hicks #79, it will be back in action with the Southern Nationals series at Wythe Raceway on Sunday, July 12th. However, no announcement has been made as to who the driver will be.
Steele joined Hicks back in March ahead of the co-sanctioned Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series and Spring Nationals event at Cherokee Speedway. He finished that race in 16th.
The two would put together a handful of top 5s and a number of top 10 runs throughout the southeast. Their best finish together was a third at Cochran Motor Speedway on June 12th with the Southern All Star Dirt Series. They finished fourth at Senoia the next day.
Back in April, the team put together two top 10s during the Gauntlet at the Gap event at Volunteer Speedway finishing 7th on April 15th and 10th on April 17th. On May 16th, they finished 5th in the Southern Thunder race at Needmore. However, the team never found victory lane together.
Steele won the Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series championship last year in his rookie year. He had 5 wins, 10 top 5s, and 12 top 10s in 14 features. His five wins came at Swainsboro Raceway (2), Senoia Raceway, Magnolia Motor Speedway, and Needmore Speedway. And he won all the the races in dominant fashion. For the Pine Tree 100 at Swainsboro he led all 50 laps to claim the $10,000 to-win feature. He led all 40 laps at Senoia in August. He led 70 of 75 laps in the 21st Annual Governors Cup at Magnolia to get another $10,000 check. At Needmore for the Early Bird 50 he led all 50 laps to get another $10,000 check. Finally, he led all the laps but one for the 15th Annual Turkey 100 at Swainsboro for another $10,000 payday.
He has two wins this year in his family’s crate car. Both came at Potomac Speedway for the Crates at The Creek doubleheader on May 1st and 2nd.
