Dewayne Keith announced he is creating a new southeastern-based super late model series called the Riggs Fiber Southern Showcase Super Series Presented by Showtime Properties.
Keith made the announcement during an appearance on The Dirt Tea Podcast, “I will be starting, my actually owned, super late model series next year. It’s going to be under KB Promotions, and it’s going to be called the Southern Showcase Super Series. Title sponsorship from Riggs Fiber, Jason Riggs, who drives the 81, he’s going to be title sponsor. Showtime Properties, Billy Franklin is coming on as presenting sponsor. … I was blown away by the amount of people that are willing to help and support my dream to get it going. … It’s such an honor to be able to finally start on my own.”
Keith went on to acknowledge that there are already quite a few super series in the southeast, but shared how he believes his series will differentiate itself from the others, “My main deal was to bring back actual regional racing for the super guys. So they don’t have to go to Kentucky, then go to West Virginia, then get back to Georgia, then over to Mississippi, then back to South Carolina. It’s going to be just a nice little slither spot going from Blackwater Speedway up to Paducah [in] Kentucky. So that will put tracks like Duck River, Thunder Hill, East Alabama, Talladega, West Alabama, North Alabama, that area there.”
“And we’re going to run for decent money,” he continued. “Sugar Creek and Cochran are also very interested in bringing it. So I’ll have them sneak this way as well. So It’s going to have plenty of backing. We’re going to be able to get tracks that really deserve to have a super race. Like 441 is kind of a special one for me. ‘Cause Swainsboro, Screven, Senoia, they always have super races, but you don’t never get to see them at 441. And that’s what I want to do. I want to go to those places like that. So we can give those fans that opportunity to see it. Give the drivers an opportunity to really get a spotlight without having to be overshadowed by a little bit bigger names there and stuff.”
Additionally, the series will be accompanied by a Wedge Late Model or Mini Cup series that Jason Riggs’ son Drew Riggs competes in.
Keith explained, “Not the Sharp Mini Late Models, but they call them Wedge Late Models. We’re going to start one for them. So at the majority of the super races, they’ll be there so the kids and the families can be involved as well.”
In a post to Facebook, Keith also shared, “The idea of the series is to completely cut down on travel for regional drivers in the Alabama, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia area. At the same time offer a good payback for the competitors at each event.”
“I want to help re-promote true regional racing again for the Super Late Models,” he concluded. “We will also launch a mini wedge series for the kids to be apart of the events we go to in 2027!”
DirtonDirt.com reports that the new series will pay between $3,000 and $7,000 to the winners. It is also not expected to interfere with his role as race director for the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and Heart of America Ultimate Super Late Model Series.
