Corey Day & Jason Meyers Racing Win Final High Limit Start Of 2026 At Placerville

  Press Release

With the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series “Chase” for the championship around the corner, Corey Day knew that he wanted to make the most of his final weekend with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing; especially with it being in his home state of California.

After taking a big flip on Thursday at Santa Maria, the 20-year-old superstar lived up to his hopes by earning back-to-back wins at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway on Friday and Placerville Speedway on Saturday.

For his second-straight win to close out the weekend, Day rolled from the pole in his Jason Meyers Racing #14, but the box score will prove he didn’t win in flag-to-flag fashion. Controlling the first 11 laps, Day did falter on Lap 12 when traffic slowed his pace and allowed Tanner Holmes to sneak underneath and take the lead aboard his Buch Motorsports #13.

Holmes’ command was short-lived, however, as Day stood up in the seat, stared at the cushion, and pointed his car right back to the lead on Lap 13. He did go on to lead to the end from there, but there were still close moments as Landon Brooks begin to pressure him in the second half.

A Lap 31 red flag ended the chances of traffic perhaps impacting the outcome and gave Day the clean air he needed to drive away to a 1.413-second margin of victory at the checkered flag. In his 12th and final feature of the year with High Limit, Day made his fifth trip to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane – third-most in 2026 behind Aaron Reutzel (9) and Kyle Larson (6).

It was his second-career Placerville Speedway score and the 16th of his career with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing – currently second all-time behind Rico Abreu (29).

For the second-straight night, 22-year-old Rio Oso, California native Landon Brooks is followed Corey Day to the stripe. It was a career weekend for the driver of the Hamilton Racing w/ Tiner-Hirst #21L, who earned his first High Limit top-10 on Thursday at Santa Maria and followed that with back-to-back runner-up results at Tulare and Placerville.

Closing out the all-California podium was Fremont’s Shane Golobc in the Matt Wood Racing, NOS Energy Drink #17W – earning his first High Limit podium since Skagit Nationals in 2024.

Rounding out the top-five as the highest finishing High Rollers was Tanner Holmes in fourth with the Buch Motorsports #13 and Giovanni Scelzi in fifth with the Spire Motorsports #77.

Finishing out the top-10 at Placerville was Justin Peck in the Rudeen Racing #26, Justin Sanders in the Demo Mittry #2X, James McFadden in the Tarlton Racing #21, Rico Abreu in the Tony Stewart Racing #24, and Kerry Madsen in the Vermeer Motorsports #55.
