3-time CARS Tour champion Bobby McCarty shared why he won’t be competing in the CARS Tour for the foreseeable future.
In a post to his McCarty Motorsports Facebook, McCarty stated, “After alot of thought and consideration, I’ve made the decision to step away from competing in the CARS Tour indefinitely.”
“This decision wasn’t easy. It comes down to several factors including rising costs, ongoing tire challenges, inconsistent rule enforcement, and a lack of consideration for the competitors whom made the series what it is,” he explained. “My focus will continue to be building McCarty Motorsports, exploring new opportunities, competing in other series and tracks within the region, as well as continuing to be involved in short track racing in ways that make sense for my family, partners and myself.”
In the comments of the post, McCarty Motorsports clarified, “We are in no way bashing the series. It is just what is best for us at this point in time. Maybe, sometime in the future we will return. our goals do not align with the series.”

McCarty made two starts with the CARS Tour this year. He finished second at New River All-American Speedway in March and then had a DNF at Orange County Speedway on April 26th. Outside of the CARS Tour, McCarty’s made only six starts in his late model. Two of those were for the Virginia Triple Crown. He suffered a transmission issue in the first leg at South Boston eventually finishing in 29th. In the second leg at Langley Speedway, McCarty finished in 35th.
