Bobby Pierce explained his point of view on the contact with Tanner English while the two were battling for the final transfer spot during Night 1 of the USA Nationals.
On the final lap of the first heat, Pierce dove to the inside of English going into turn 3. As they were in the middle of 3 and 4, the two came together with English’s car getting sideways. However, neither wrecked and they drag raced to the finish line with Pierce taking the spot.
On the cool down lap, English appeared to express his displeasure with Pierce by brushing his right rear up into Pierce’s left front. Pierce responded with some sign language albeit it was hard to decipher exactly what it was based on the replay footage.

Pierce spoke with DIRTVision after the heat race and shared his perspective, “I got under Tanner in three. He kinda pushed a little bit and he tried to close the door, but I was there. It’s what happens when they water the track right before a heat race. It’s kinda slimy. A lot of us were struggling out there. So I think Tanner kinda hit a little bit of it, pushed.”
“Like I said, I kinda had the spot,” Piece added. “He made some contact on my car after the race so-. I don’t know. They’re going to do what they want. I think it was some pretty good racing. For the transfer spot, you kinda gotta do what you gotta do. But I feel like I was kinda there.”
English would race his way into the feature by winning his Last Chance Showdown race. He started the feature in 19th and drove to 10th passing Pierce, who advanced from 13th to finish 12th.
English has not commented on the incident on social media, but did share a recap of his feature writing on Facebook, “19th👉10th. We’ll take it, this AK Racecars and Pro-Built Motorsports is fast. Onto day 2 at Cedar Lake Speedway.”
Unfortunately, Day 2 will not take place tonight. The World of Outlaws announced that it has been postponed to Saturday. The series shared in a press release, “Due to the all-day rain impacting the New Richmond, WI area throughout the morning and afternoon on Friday, leading to saturated grounds across the facility, officials from the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision and Cedar Lake Speedway have agreed to postpone the Friday portion of the USA Nationals.”
“Friday’s program will now be run on Saturday, with Hot Laps scheduled for 5:00PM CT. Following the conclusion of the Friday program, the grandstands will be cleared and the track surface will be reworked, with the Saturday program set to begin approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the Friday program,” the series announced.
The Friday program includes hot laps, and qualifying as well as heat races, a Dash, and the FANS Fund Dash.
The Saturday program will feature Last Chance Showdowns or B-Mains, a Last Chance Qualifier, the unique driver introductions the event and tracks does, and finally the 100-lap feature.
