Bobby Pierce Shares New Update On His Dad’s Health Status: “My Dad’s Procedure Went Really Well Yesterday!”

Bobby Pierce shared a new update on his dad’s health status after he suffered a stroke on the morning of July 15th. 

Pierce originally shared that his dad had a health scare and went into “immediate surgery,” but was “really doing good” in an update on the evening of July 15th.

On the morning of Friday, July 17th, he shared an update revealing that his dad had suffered a stroke, ““On Wednesday morning, Bob suffered a stroke in his motorhome. This was a complete shock to us. My mom, Angie, frantically called for help as Bob lost feeling on his left side and had difficulty speaking.”

“A massive thank you to Carson Ferguson, who was parked next door. He did not hesitate to jump in, comforting Bob and talking with him while Angie guided the ambulance,” he continued. “The ambulance took Bob to the Corning airport, where he was life-flighted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. We are incredibly lucky to be near such a world-class facility.”

“During this time, Angie called my wife, Abby, who had to break the news to me. I was staying in the hauler at a friend’s shop about 90 minutes away. The crew and I borrowed a truck and hit the road immediately. Thanks to Justin’s driving, we made it in time for me to speak with my dad right before he went into emergency surgery,” Pierce explained.

As for the surgery, he detailed, “The surgeons ran a catheter through his groin up to his carotid artery to successfully remove a blockage. The waiting room was a tough place to be, but the surgery went great. Almost immediately after, Bob started regaining feeling, movement, and his normal speech. By yesterday, he looked and sounded even better. The surgeon told us it was a borderline major stroke, and we are blessed that the procedure was a total success.”

However, he noted he would undergo another procedure on Monday, ““On Monday, he will undergo a procedure to have a stent placed to open up blood flow to his brain and prevent future episodes. If all goes well, he could be released as early as Tuesday. He is the toughest guy I know!”

On the morning of Tuesday, July 21st, Pierce shared an update following his dad’s second procedure with the stent, “My dad’s procedure went really well yesterday! They put in a carotid stent, and Bob took it like a champ with no sedation or anesthesia.”

“We feel so blessed and lucky with how well everything went,” he added. “We’re hoping to find out tomorrow when he can come home!”

Pierce then shared that he hopes to get his dad back to the track soon, but when he does return he is likely to have deflated energy levels and recommends fans give him a thumbs-up rather than trying to engage him in a lengthy conversation.

“On another note, if we manage to get him out to the race track anytime soon, please know he’s going to be pretty low on energy while he recovers over the coming months. As much as Bob loves to chat, keeping conversations short will really help him save his strength. If you see him, feel free to give him a thumbs-up or a quick “glad to see you!”

Finally, he concluded, “We also kindly ask that you please continue to refrain from messaging my page + close family for the remainder of the week as we try and sort out travel, racing logistics,etc. We appreciate everyone’s understanding!”

While his dad recovers from this second procedure, Bobby is back in action at Lincoln Speedway tonight for the FloRacing Night in America race that was postponed from its original date on May 7th. Given the race was originally postponed from its original date on May 7th, it will not be a complete show. Instead, it will start with a green flag for the second race given the first one had already been completed.

General Manager Ben Shelton explained, “Tonight the FloRacing Night in America event at Lincoln Speedway interrupted by rain after the first heat race on May 7, resumes with the initial green flag in heat race two. 3 SLM heat races, 2 B-Mains,& a 50-lap finale. Any new SLM entries can tag the back of a remaining heat.”

The first heat was won by Hudson O’Neal back in May with Brandon Overton, Shannon Babb, and Jason Feger also advancing to the feature.

Pierce will start on the front row of Heat 4 outside of Ricky Thornton Jr. He’s also expected to be up against Michael Leach, Josh Rice, Dan Ebert, Justin Duty, Frank Heckenast Jr., Carson Hocevar, and Roben Huffman.

He is currently 9th in the series point standings, 81 points behind current leader Brandon Sheppard. He finished 3rd in the season opener at Spoon River, but failed to make the field for the race at Eldora. He had an issue with an oil pump belt that ended his chances of making the feature.
