Bobby Pierce shared an update on his dad, Bob Pierce, as well as details on the health scare he suffered on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday evening, Pierce initially shared in a post to Facebook,  “Bob gave us a little bit of a health scare this morning, & he had to go into immediate surgery. He’s really doing good now, so just wanted to give everyone an update.”

“Technology & science is a crazy thing that does wonders. He’s getting some more tests done & is being evaluated constantly, but he’s doing really well & is resting up,” he added. “God is so good! Thanks to everyone for reaching out to offer your help or to voice your concerns. I haven’t had the opportunity or the head space to reply to all my texts and calls. I’ve been taking things one moment at a time.”

Additionally, he shared that he and his team were not going to race with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Shelby County on Thursday, but were planning to compete in the Silver Dollar Nationals at the track on Friday and Saturday, “We are taking tomorrow off, but I think we are still planning to race Friday and Saturday. If plans change with that, I’ll let y’all know! Thanks!”

Now, in a new update this morning on Friday, July 17th, Pierce shared, “First off, Bob is doing good and feeling mostly like his normal self, which is amazing news! He wants to thank everyone in the racing community for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, and support. He is very eager to get out of the hospital and back to doing what he loves.”

As for what the health scare was, Pierce revealed his dad suffered a stroke.

He wrote, “On Wednesday morning, Bob suffered a stroke in his motorhome. This was a complete shock to us. My mom, Angie, frantically called for help as Bob lost feeling on his left side and had difficulty speaking.”

“A massive thank you to Carson Ferguson, who was parked next door. He did not hesitate to jump in, comforting Bob and talking with him while Angie guided the ambulance,” he continued. “The ambulance took Bob to the Corning airport, where he was life-flighted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. We are incredibly lucky to be near such a world-class facility.”

“During this time, Angie called my wife, Abby, who had to break the news to me. I was staying in the hauler at a friend’s shop about 90 minutes away. The crew and I borrowed a truck and hit the road immediately. Thanks to Justin’s driving, we made it in time for me to speak with my dad right before he went into emergency surgery,” Pierce explained.

As for the surgery, he detailed, “The surgeons ran a catheter through his groin up to his carotid artery to successfully remove a blockage. The waiting room was a tough place to be, but the surgery went great. Almost immediately after, Bob started regaining feeling, movement, and his normal speech. By yesterday, he looked and sounded even better. The surgeon told us it was a borderline major stroke, and we are blessed that the procedure was a total success.”

While the surgery was successful, Bob Pierce will have to undergo another procedure and will spend a few more days in the hospital.

Bobby relayed, “On Monday, he will undergo a procedure to have a stent placed to open up blood flow to his brain and prevent future episodes. If all goes well, he could be released as early as Tuesday. He is the toughest guy I know!”

As for what his plans are for tonight, Pierce shared he still plans to race tonight, “We are still planning to race the Silver Dollar Nationals. Fortunately, the track is only an hour away, so I can visit my dad before and after the races. While I am racing, my mom will be by his side watching the races on FloRacing from his hospital room. Meanwhile, our amazing friends will be running our apparel trailer. There is no quit in this family.”

After thanking all the people who have helped him over these trying couple of days, Pierce asked for privacy for his family, but encouraged fans to send their well wishes in the comments.
