Brenham Crouch’s team shared an injury update after Crouch was involved in a brutal crash with Giovanni Scelzi during the Knoxville Nationals’ preliminary Hard Knox race at Knoxville Raceway.

On lap 5 of the 25-lap feature, Donny Schatz made a huge move passing both Scelzi and race leader Carson McCarl. Scelzi then made contact with McCarl’s right rear with his left front. The contact immediately sent Scelzi head first into the outside wall where he began flipping.

Crouch, who was running the high line through the corner and attempted to avoid the flipping Scelzi, but had nowhere to go and smashed hard into him. The contact then violently flipped him over before he eventually came to a stop on all four wheels.

Crouch’s team shared in a Facebook post that he broke his right arm and was undergoing neurological observation.

The team posted, “Brenham has suffered a broken right arm and is currently being admitted for neurological observation. If necessary, he will be transferred to Des Moines for further evaluation and care.”

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with calls, texts, and prayers. Your support is greatly appreciated,” the team concluded.
