Brody Smith revealed he lost a motor that prevented him from qualifying and competing in the FloRacing Night in America at Eldora Speedway last night.

Smith took to the track for hot laps, but unfortunately lost the motor. He explained in a post to Facebook, “Well 💩. Lost a motor yesterday in hotlaps, the car felt pretty good but nothing to show for it.”

The team did not qualify or compete in the heats or B-Mains the rest of the night as they worked to get the motor swapped, Smith shared, “We swapped motors and are ready for tonight! Tonight puts points towards Saturday which will determine where we start in our heat race for the dream. If you can’t be here it will all be live on FloRacing. let’s go racing!

Coverage of the 32nd Annual Dirt Late Model Dream begins tonight at 6:15 PM ET with hot laps beginning at 6:30 PM. Racing action is expected to start at 8 PM.

There are currently 87 drivers and teams registered to compete in the event. The 87 car field is split in half with one group racing tonight and the other racing on Friday night. Each night will feature a complete racing program with qualifying order selected by random draw. Drivers will then take on hot laps and qualifying. The heat races are different from your typical standard program in that they will be inverted. After the heats there will be B-Features and then the 50-Lap $30,000 to-win A-Feature.

On Saturday, there will be six heat races that are seeded through the track’s Every Lap Matters points system that is based on the preliminary nights and then inverted based on the spin of the track’s Wheel of Misfortune. There will then be two B-Features and finally the Dirt Late Model Dream.

The Every Lap Matters points system awards drivers points based on how they qualify, where they finish in the heat races, and how they finish in the feature. Points are also awarded to the first 10 cars that do not qualify for the feature. Here’s how the point system breaks down:
