Buxton Speedway, which is owned and operated by the Marche family, was officially put up for sale today.
In a post to Facebook, the track announced, “🏁 Buxton Speedway is Officially For Sale 🏁 After much consideration, Buxton Speedway has been listed for sale.”
“For over five decades, Buxton Speedway has been a cornerstone of grassroots motorsports, creating countless memories for racers, teams, sponsors, staff, volunteers, and fans from across Canada and the United States. The facility has proudly served as a home for dirt track racing and a gathering place for generations of motorsport enthusiasts,” the track added.
While the track is going up for sale, racing will continue for the 2026 season. The track emphasized, “At this time, we would like to assure everyone that the 2026 racing season and all scheduled events will continue as planned. Our focus remains on delivering the exciting racing action and fan experience that our competitors and supporters have come to expect.”
“Additional details regarding the sale, property listing, and opportunities associated with Buxton Speedway will be released in the coming weeks,” the track concluded. “We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported Buxton Speedway throughout its history. The passion, dedication, and loyalty of this racing community have helped make this facility what it is today. As more information becomes available, it will be shared through our official channels.”
The 3/8 mile clay banked track, which is located in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, opened its doors in 1971 as Raleigh Raceway Park. It then operated as Raceland Speedway in 1979. It was renamed South Buxton Raceway in 1982. In 2019 it was briefly promoted as Southern Ontario Motor Speedway. In 2024 the March Family took over operations and renamed it Buxton Speedway. It hosts regular weekly shows with Late Models, Modifieds, Thunder Stocks, Mini Mods, and Mini Stocks from May through October.
Additionally, the track plays host to a number of touring series including the Southern Ontario Sprints, Ontario Traditional Sprints, Great Lakes Super Sprints, Great Lakes Legends, and the Action Sprint Tour.
