A new report from Jeremy Elliott claims that Cameron Smith will race with Jacob Allen and Shark Racing full time moving forward in 2026.
Elliott shared in a recent upload to YouTube, “Yesterday, I started to hear rumblings of Smith leaving Lefever and going full time with Allen. I confirmed the move in a phone conversation with the 20-year-old driver.”
“According to Smith, Allen put together a bigger schedule so the young driver went to Lefever and his crew chief and asked them if they would do it, if they would make that move in their career. And they said, ‘Yeah,'” Elliott added. “I talked to Lefever last night and he wasn’t about to tell Smith no and if he wasn’t doing back flips over this, which is understandable, and it didn’t go the way he wanted, he’s still supportive of Smith and his racing career.”
Smith and the Shark Racing team do not plan on racing with the Outlaws as they were with Ashton Torgerson, but plan to race around central Pennsylvania. Elliott said, “Allen already admitted that he came off the road for financial reasons. Running central PA is significantly and less expensive.”
Smith competed with Shark Racing back on May 16th at Port Royal where they finished 6th. They were only best by Chase Dietz, the red hot Aaron Reutzel, Troy Wagaman Jr., Kasey Kahne, and Brent Marks. Smith is currently 10th in the PA Posse 410 Sprint Series Schedule after competing in four of the six features. He’s 157 points behind current leader Chase Dietz. At the various tracks throughout the region he’s in the top 5 at a number of them. He’s currently third at Lincoln Speedway behind Dietz and Freddie Rahmer. At Williams Grove and BAPS he’s in fourth place.
Elliott went on to share that Lefever has not found anyone to replace Smith yet, “He is still entertaining offers and nothing is set in stone. He does need to bolster his crew after losing a few guys to the Allen camp, but he hopes to be in action at Lincoln Speedway next week for the fallen firefighters event.”
