Carson Hocevar issued a response to Denny Hamlin after he described Spire Motorsports, the team Hocevar races for, as “unserious.”

On his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin was asked to comment on the incident between Hocevar and Brad Keselowski at Darlington on Sunday, September 6th. Hamlin had few words about the incident simply saying, “Carson wrecked Brad. What else?”

After discussing Keselowski’s post race comments where he said, “His day’s coming and it’s coming hard. Watch out, Carson!” Hamlin said, “You’re not going to get any more from me because I’m not going to give him what he wants. I’m not going to give him the clip that he wants. Period. So you want me to talk about Spire? I’ll talk about Spire. There’s no adults in the room, clearly, in that building. No adults. That’s my opinion. Because how can you honestly think that’s what’s best for your company if you’re running a serious organization? I think they’re unserious.”

Hocevar responded in a post to Facebook, “So many people are gonna discredit you for being a fan of us. They’re gonna call you dumb, fake fans, and worse. NASCAR doesn’t have to be that serious. We race for the fans. Even the ones that hate us. Regardless if we’re an unersious organization.”

In the comments, Hocevar added, “I’d like to put this out there too. I love how passionate our fans are. They’ll call you delusional and everything. That’s fine. Just never cross the line is all I ask. Never attack anyone for who they are. As drivers, I feel like the racer persona is plenty okay to criticize or hate or even defend depending on what side your favorite driver is. Just I urge my fans never to cross the line to making anything ever personal.”

Hocevar finished 11th at Darlington on Sunday. He remains 12th in the NASCAR Points standings, 89 points behind Hamlin, who is the current leader. He was 80 points behind him heading into the race.

While Hamlin gained ground on Hocevar, he lost ground to a number of other competitors after his 18th place finish. Christopher Bell, who won on Sunday, now trails him by just 12 points. Ryan Blaney is also just 16 points behind and Tyler Reddick is 24 points behind. Chase Briscooe, who sits fifth in the standings, is just 37 points back.

The NASCAR Cup Series continues this upcoming Sunday, September 13th at World Wide Technology Raceway for the Enjoy Illinois 300. The race is expected to start at 3 PM.
