Carson Hocevar will join the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at its upcoming race on Friday night at Lavonia Speedway.

The series made the announcement on social media, “Ride The ‘Dente! NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar is bringing his Spire Motorsports No. 77 Dirt Late Model to Lavonia Speedway tomorrow night! The one-time Cup Series winner will compete with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series for one night only in Friday’s $10,000 to-win showdown in Georgia.”

Hocevar has made a number of appearances in a dirt late model this year. He showed up at Spoon River Speedway for the FloRacing Night in America Series race back on May 6, but failed to make the event finishing 11th in a B-Main. He attempted to race at Lincoln Speedway the next night, but it was rained out. He was also planning to run at LaSalle on May 5th, but it was rained out as well.

He also showed up at Eldora Speedway for the Wednesday night FloRacing Night in America series, but failed to make the feature finishing 11th in a B-Main in one of the most competitive fields to-date. In his preliminary night on Thursday he finished 6th in his second B-Main.

At the end of last year, Hocevar also competed in the Gateway Dirt Nationals. He finished 11th in his prelim feature on Friday night. He followed that up with a 10th place finish in the feature on Saturday night.

Ashton Winger leads the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series points standings heading into Lavonia and is on a three-race win streak after sweeping both nights at Magnolia and then getting the win at Senoia at the end of June when the series was last in action. He has a 16 point advantage over Zack Mitchell. However, Mitchell is now racing for G.R. Smith Motorsports with the World of Outlaws Late Models and will not be at Lavonia, but will instead be at Sharon Speedway.

Mitchell won’t be the only driver in the top 10 in the series points who won’t be there. Sam Seawright, who is currently in 8th, announced he planned to compete with the Summer Nationals for its entire fifth week and thus will be at Crystal Motor Speedway on Friday night and Oakshade Raceway on Saturday night.

Finally, Jackson Hise, who is currently 9th will not be there either as he announced he is stepping away from super dirt late model competition in favor of pursuing his education and attending college.

Needless, to say the points picture will look a lot different following the series’ races at Lavonia and Cherokee this weekend.
