Clay Stuckey went for a spin when his left rear wheel decided to attempt to race by itself on the opening lap of the second heat race during the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series stop at Eagle Raceway for the Malvern Bank High Bank Heist

Stuckey started on front row outside of Cory Lawler. On the opening lap, Stuckey drove it in into turn 1 and midway through the turn his left rear wheel came off and made a beeline for the outside wall. It then ricocheted off the wall and somehow managed to hop over Stuckey’s car that came to a stop at the top of turn 2. It then continued down the back stretch.

The lost wheel ruined Stuckey’s night. He would finish last in the heat race. That put him in a 15th starting position in B-Main 1. He was able to move through the field, but was only able to get to 8th, two spots out of a transfer position.

Stuckey shared an update on Facebook about what happened that caused the wheel to go flying off his car, “Started on the front row of our heat race at Eagle Raceway, but unfortunately the studs broke on the LR tire right after the green flag and ended our shot early. That’s racing sometimes.”

“We’ll regroup and come back at it tonight for night two of the Malvern Bank High Bank Heist with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series,” he added.

Racing action for night 2 of the Malvern Bank High Bank Heist is expected to start with Hot Lap at 6:30 PM local time and racing action beginning at 7:30 PM. There is $10,000 on the line for the winner of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature. It will be a 40-lap feature like Thursday night. They will be joined by the IMCA Stock Cars as the support division with a 20-lap feature.
