Cole Macedo shared his thoughts on the push truck junking his car before the B-Main at Eldora Speedway ahead of the B-Main during the High Limit Racing Series’ Joker’s Jackpot race.
Macedo was slated to start 8th in B-Main 2, where the top six finishers would advance. He never got the chance to see if he could advance two positions and qualify for the main event. Instead, as he was getting pushed onto the track, the truck that was pushing him slightly veered to the left as they were exiting pit road and ramped up and over his left rear and then the entire left side of his car.

The car was significantly damaged and was unable to start the race. Following the incident, High Limit Racing announced that “Eldora Speedway officials have offered the #2C a promoters provisional for the A-Main. They’re unable to get the backup car down in time, but they will be compensated A-Main start money.”

It’s unclear what the start money is, but according to FloRacing, in 2024, the 24th and final car for the feature received $4,000.
Macedo addressed the incident in an interview with Always Race Day, “I’m sure that the push truck driver didn’t mean to do it, obviously. As much as we were upset that it junked our really nice race car and hurt our rear end, our top wing. It actually pry [cost] about $6-$7,000 worth of damage. Bummer, for sure. Like I said, I’m sure he didn’t mean to do it.”
“I’m sure Eldora and High Limit’s going to do the best they can to try to make it as right as much they can,” he continued. “I feel bad for my guys. I feel like we’re in a decent spot there to try to make it into the show. Nonetheless, just get a test and see if we were any good to try to get better for tomorrow.”
“We got to build a whole new car. It’s just a bummer. I know that they’re already tired from a long week and it’s hot out here, and hate to add more work to them. It wasn’t really my doing this time, but still the work’s got to get done. So it’s never any good.”
As for what he and his team will have to do to get the new car ready, Macedo shared, “It’s a frame and body, but it’s got fuel lines, a steering gear, and most of the good bits and tools that we need. Probably pull the front end-. I think the front end was still good out of that car from tonight. So they’ll probably pull some of the parts off the car that we’re running and Dan from Maxim, one of our great supporters, and the guy that builds our frames, is going to pick up that frame tomorrow and see if he’s able to fix it. It’s right there in the hip rail, which kind of protects me. I’m sure that it probably can be fixed, but I know it’s going to take some extensive work.”
“Just a lot of work. It’s just going to take us a little bit more time to be prepared for the Kings Royal,” he concluded.
