Dale McDowell and Shane McDowell Racing shared a schedule update for the months of May and June after they’ve had a few weeks off. The team has not been in action the entire month of May so far. The last time it saw the track was back in the middle of April for the Gauntlet at the Gap at Volunteer Speedway.
That is going to change at the end of May. First, McDowell will be making the tow out to Wheatland, Missouri to compete at Lucas Oil Speedway for the 34 Annual Show Me 100 from May 21-23.
After that they will tentatively head to Duck River Raceway Park for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals race on Sunday, May 24th.
Next, the team will head to Mansfield Speedway for the 57 Special on May 29-30 with $10,000 to-win on the line on Friday and then $57,000 up for grabs on Saturday night.
To start June, they’ll be at Eldora Speedway from the the third through the 6th. The FloRacing Night in America series will compete on the third and then the Dirt Late Model Dream kicks off with preliminaries on the fourth and fifth with the 32nd annual running taking place on Saturday, June 6th.
The team will conclude June at Smoky Mountain Speedway for the Mountain Moonshine Classic with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
The team posted on Facebook, “Between Mother Nature and not much going on in our area, we’ve had a couple weeks off to regroup and prepare for our upcoming busy schedule.”
“A special request by our sponsor Ace Doran Hauling & Rigging has us heading West…to the Show-Me state!! It’ll be the first time Dale & Shane have competed at Lucas Oil Speedway together! Also on the schedule Mansfield, OH and of course the Dream! So mark your calendars and we will see you at the track!”
McDowell’s competed in 16 features so far this year and has 1 win, 7 top 5s and 10 top 10s. His win came with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series at I-75 Raceway at the beginning of April. He then racked up two more podium finishes after that with third place finishes at Tazewell Speedway and at North Georgia Speedway. He also secured top 5s when he competed with the World of Outlaws at Volunteer Speedway and Smoky Mountain Speedway in the middle of March. He finished 5th and 4th repsectively.
When he returned to Volunteer Speedway a month later for the Gauntlet at the Gap he had an up-and-down go of it. He finished fourth on opening night, but then followed that up with a 19th. On night three he finished 6th before finishing out the week in 22nd.
