Dennis Erb Racing made their yearly June pilgrimage to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 3-6 for the 32nd Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ The action at the “Big E” got underway last Wednesday with a $20,000 to win FloRacing Night in America Series showdown. Dennis Erb, Jr. qualified nineteenth fastest in Group B during time trials prior to finishing seventh in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, the consolation race effort was two spots shy of transferring Dennis into the 50-lap main event.
On Thursday night, a $30,000 top prize was earmarked for the winner of the first ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ prelim program. Dennis knocked down the seventh quickest time in Group A during qualifying and later grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his loaded heat race. In the 50-lapper, Dennis rolled off from the outside of the seventh row and finished right where he started in the fourteenth position.
Following a day off for the team on Friday, the intensity picked up on Saturday evening, as all of the competitors in the pit area were eying the hefty $100,000 winner’s check. The Carpentersville, Illinois standout started fifth on the grid in his heat race, but contact from another competitor sent him spinning hard into the inside concrete wall. Dennis was unfortunately done for the night following the incident, which resulted in heavy rear end damage to his #28 Rocket racecar. The #28 team is back in the Buckeye State tonight for the inaugural running of the ‘Shale Crescent Dirt Cup’ at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio. In a show similar to golf’s Ryder Cup, the top twelve World of Outlaws Late Model Series drivers will be pitted against the top twelve Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers. Points will be awarded for qualifying, heat races, King of the Hill match races, and the 50-lap headliner, which will boast a $20,000 first place prize. On June 12-13, the dirt-slinging action will quickly turn to West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia for the 10th edition of the ‘RaceFest Summer Championship.’ A pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series shootouts will be held at WVMS this weekend with $12,000 up for grabs on Friday and $30,000 on the line on Saturday. Dennis comes into ‘RaceFest’ eleventh in the latest version of the national series point standings. Learn more online at www.woolms.com or watch every lap of competition LIVE on DIRTVision.
