Drake Troutman hinted that he and his new Jerry Foster team might debut at the Prairie Dirt Classic at the end of July.
Troutman shared an update on the possibility in an interview with Thomas Cordell of Elbows Up Dirt Productions ahead of the United Late Model Series race at Michael Mercers Raceway for its inaugural Liberty Classic, which he went on to win.
When asked when he and Foster will make their debut, Troutman shared, “Right now, it’s either going to be the 24th, 25th of July or it’s going to be right into the North/South for the Lucas Oil show at Florence, which is second week in August.”
July 24th and 25th are the dates for the World of Outlaws sanctioned Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway.
Troutman previously indicated in a post to Facebook that he would compete in Colton Flinner’s backup car with the ULMS series at Michael Mercer Raceway on Wednesday night and then at The Dirt Track at Genesee from July 2-4.
Then depending on how those races go, they would head to Sharon Speedway to compete with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on July 11th and 12th. From there, he indicated they would debut the Jerry Foster team in the beginning of August.
“We greatly appreciate the support from Colton Flinner and John Johnson for allowing me and my crew to run his backup car for the ULMS series July 4th weekend,” Troutman wrote. “Depending on how the weekend goes there’s a possibility that we will attend Sharon speedway for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series July 11th and 12th.”
“Racing Colton’s backup car will allow the team and myself to get Jerry Foster’s late model team put together and be back racing in the national scene in hopes of the first of August,” he concluded.
Following that post, Kyle McFadden at DirtonDirt.com shared after a conversation with Foster that the team’s plan was to debut at the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway and then compete in the World 100 at Eldora Speedway and the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
Additionally, he shared that Troutman would likely compete more in the modified moving forward as they prepare for the 2027 season. Foster informed him, “He’s going to try and race the modified a little more because, at the end of the day, we all need a little revenue. To keep him racing the modified makes sense because it’ll help pay the guys until next season comes along.”
