Ethan Dotson shared his thoughts and some strong words for Bobby Pierce following his heat race win at Mississippi Thunder Speedway with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Friday night.

In the third heat race, Pierce started on the pole with Dotson on his outside. Dotson was able to grab the lead on the opening lap on the top side. However, Pierce hounded him for the next couple laps initially running through the middle and the bottom. With 3 to go, he moved to the top while Dotson went to the bottom through 3 and 4. Pierce was able to get a strong run and threw a slider heading into 1 and 2. Dotson crossed him over with the hood of his car brushing Pierce’s left rear quarter panel.

After racing side-by-side down the back stretch, Dotson threw his own slider through 3 and 4. Pierce countered with a crossover exiting turn 4. Dotson then threw a tight slider through 1 and 2 with his entire rear end going across Pierce’s hood. Following the move, Pierce got completely sideways, but was able to save it, but lost second to Daulton Wilson. He ended up finishing in third while Dotson took the heat race win.

Speaking to DirtVision’s Ashton Smyth following the heat race win, Dotson said, “He just parked it on my nose so I parked it on his. Just took one out of his page. Just run over us all week.”

“Car’s really good and just try to get it better. Try to get us one won here,” he concluded.

Pierce also spoke to Smyth following the incident. He said, “We were both going hard out there. I gave him a slider, cleared him, and then we went sliding back and forth couple times. Last lap he sent her in there pretty good. We were already kinda coming off the corners. It was a bit late, but I feel like I should have been better prepared for that. Probably should have turned down the hill a little earlier. Not saying it was clean, but we all been there. I think I pry could have turned down the hill. I really wish I would’ve just blocked the slider. On top of that I wish I would’ve got a better start and not had to race him.”

“Going into the feature, back of our mind it’s a points night. Gotta keep our cool when things like that happen. Lucky I was able to save it out of 2 and we didn’t lose, but really one spot. Just got out of the redraw which sucks,” he added.

Dotson would redraw on the pole for the feature and lead for nearly half the race, but would brush the wall in turn 1. That allowed Nick Hoffman to easily slip underneath him. He would eventually hold on to a fourth place finish.

Meanwhile, after finishing third in his heat, Pierce started the race in 10th and was only able to move up one spot to 9th. With Nick Hoffman going on to win the race, Pierce saw him fall six points behind Hoffman in the Championship battle as they head into the Dairyland Showdown finale tonight.
