Fairbury American Legion Speedway revealed a loaded roster of 54 drivers out of 79 entries that will compete for the Modified portion of the Prairie Dirt Classic that takes place on July 24th and 25th.

While the track initially indicated it would limit the number of entries to 54 it increased that number to 58 to allow for four drivers that will be pulling double duty during the Prairie Dirt Classic competing in both the Modified and Super Late Model divisions. Those four drivers include Ricky Thornton Jr., Mike Spatola, Mike Harrison, and Jerry Bowersock.

Fairbury Speedway owner Matt Curl explained the decision, “Honestly the hardest thing I have to do all year is to make a decision how to limit the Modifieds at the PDC. Everyone should be able to experience the PDC, but with the limited pit space, and a large number of Late Models teams heading to the PDC this year, it is just not possible to fit all the haulers in our pit area.”

The 25 entries who were not chosen by Curl and his Fairbury staff do still have a chance to compete in the event. They have the opportunity to race their way into the event during the track’s Richard Craven Memorial $2,012 to-win race on Saturday July 11th. The four best finishing drivers at the end of the night that signed up to compete in the Prairie Dirt Classic will lock themselves into what will be a 58 car field.

That list includes multiple former Prairie Dirt Classic champions including Tyler Nicely, who won the inaugural race in 2015. Levi Kissinger claimed the title in 2016. Mike McKinney won in 2022, and Michael Long won the race in 2024. Additionally, Mike Harrison has won the race four times and is the current defending champion. He won in 2017, 2018, 2023, and 2025. The only former champion not in the field is Nick Hoffman. He won in 2019 and 2021.

On top of former champions, the roster also includes the current Summit Modified Nationals Points leader Zeke McKenzie. McKenzie has an 87 point advantage over Ray Bollinger after winning at Fairbury on June 13th and putting together 7 top 5s and 7 top 10s so far.

It also includes current MARS Modified Championship points leader Michael Ledford. Ledford has a 60 point advantage over Cole Falloway. He’s got two wins with the tour with one of them coming at Fairbury back in May. His other win was at Peoria. On top of the two wins, he has 6 top 5s, and 8 top 10s.

Falloway is also someone to watch. He has four wins with the MARS Modified Championship. His wins came at Farmer City, the Brownstown Bullring, Spoon River, and Red Hill. Additionally, he has a win at Fairbury already this year that came on May 9th.
