Fairbury American Legion Speedway announced that it is limiting the number of Modified entries it will accept for the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend due to overwhelming demand.

The track announced on Facebook that it will cap the total entries to 54 “due to the high number of Modified teams that are wanting to race on the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend.”

Additionally, the event has been turned into an invite-only event. The track explained, “Drivers wishing to get a chance to race the prestigious PDC weekend will need to fill out the online registration form in its entirety, along with online payment to the Fairbury Speedway to be eligible and considered in the final invite only entry list which will be posted on Wednesday July 1st.”

“Registration opens Saturday June 13th and will end Monday June 29th at midnight,” it added. “Order of registration does not matter for this event; you just have to be registered by the deadline to be considered.⁣”

As for how drivers and teams will get invited, Fairbury shared, “50 entries on the final roster will be comprised of the top 10 in points for the following: Fairbury Speedway track points, Summit Modified Nationals points, MARS Modified points, and DIRTcar National point standings. Finishing out the list of 50 drivers will come from career accomplishments and FALS Staff selections. Our goal is to have the best of the best compete alongside the World of Outlaw Late Models during the PDC weekend.⁣”

The final four spots will be chosen through a “last chance ‘race your way in’ night on Saturday July 11th as part of the Richard Craven Memorial special paying $2,000 to win. The top 4 finishing drivers not already locked into the PDC driver list will be added to the list of 50 to set our 54-driver field for the Modified portion of the PDC.⁣”

Here’s who might be on that invite list based on the aforementioned points standings:

Obviously, there are a number of drivers that crossover in the points so there will seem to be quite a bit of drivers chosen based on their career accomplishments and by the FALS staff. One would expect drivers like Charlie Mefford, Tyler Nicely, Chase Holland, Kyle Hammer, Frank Marshall, Billy Knippenberg, and Hunt Gossum who made the feature last year to be on the short list. It’s also possible you might see some of the big names out of the North Lights Modified Series get invites like Joe Chisholm and Rodney Sanders.

The Prairie Dirt Classic week begins on Wednesday, July 22nd with the FLoRacing Night in America One For The Road race. The core event begins on Friday, July 24th with 4 $500 to-win Summit Modified Nationals features. Then on Saturday, July 25th, the Modifieds will race in a $5,000 to-win feature.
