Here’s a look at what to watch for at Cornwall:

Mike and Mat: When the Series last battled at Utica-Rome Speedway, Mat Williamson outdueled Mike Mahaney to score his second win of 2026. The St. Catharines, ON driver also cut Mahaney’s lead to 12 points with eight races remaining.

Last year at Cornwall, Mahaney led most of the race before ultimately losing the lead to Tim Fuller toward the end. However, the Elizabethtown, NY driver finished second.  In 11 starts at Cornwall, “Smooth Shoe” has three top fives and seven top 10s.

Williamson, meanwhile, has been better at the 1/4-mile track, earning seven wins, 26 top fives and 32 top 10s in 40 starts. That includes a podium finish during the Spring Shootout with the Super DIRTcar Series in May. He finished fourth during last year’s 358 Modified stop at Cornwall after starting 17th.

A win by Williamson would be his 23rd career triumph, breaking a tie with Fuller for fourth on the Series all-time wins list.

Watch Out for Fuller: Fuller’s win at Cornwall in 2025 was the last time the Edwards, NY driver reached Victory Lane at the track, a place he’s won at on six occasions. In 59 starts, he’s earned 29 top fives and 46 top 10s.

The Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame driver hasn’t finished off the podium in his last three 358 Modified Series starts at the track, and aims for his third Series triumph there, the first coming in 1993.

Along with his success in a 358, he’s earned five top fives at Cornwall with the Super DIRTcar Series, and two top fives with the World of Outlaws Late Models Series presented by DIRTVision.

Here Comes Hollywood: Fuller isn’t the only outsider who’s had success at Cornwall. Felix Roy, the 2024 Series champion, also has six wins at the track along with 19 top fives and 25 top 10s in 34 starts.

The Napierville, QC driver has made two starts at the 1/4-mile track this season, earning one win and two top fives. However, he earned a 29th-place finish in his lone DIRTcar 358 Modified Series start there.

Like Williamson, “Hollywood” also had success in the Super DIRTcar Series Spring Shootout, finishing third driving the Paille Course Racing No. ONE.

A win on Sunday would be his first career DIRTcar 358 Modified Series victory.

Defending the Bullring: Like most tracks on the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series schedule, Cornwall has a stout group of regulars who aim to win the Chico Dingwall Memorial.

In five regular season Features at Cornwall this season, six different drivers have reached Victory Lane. Joining Roy and David Hebert are the top three in the track’s points standings, Corey Wheeler, Louie Jackson Jr., Kalen Draper, and Ryan Stabler.

Wheeler, from Cornwall, ON, is the current points leader and the only driver to finish in the top five in all six Features. He’s aiming for his second career Series victory, after winning at Brockville Ontario Speedway in 2023. Wheeler has 16 victories, 73 top fives and 113 top 10s in 147 starts at Cornwall.

Stabler, also from Cornwall, ON, is a three-time winner at the track, with 18 top fives and 34 top 10s. Jackson, from Akwesasne, NY, has eight wins at Cornwall, along with 33 top fives and 67 top 10s.

Both drivers are searching for their first career Series victory.
