Jake Timm has had a bit of a roller coaster 2026, but he recently shared what he might have in the works for 2027.

Timm started off 2026 with the goal of competing with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the second year in a row. However, by mid March, he announced he was dropping off the series due to “rising costs within the sport, specifically those of a full nation tour, it is no longer a sustainable path for our team to be competitive.”

While he dropped off the World of Outlaws, he would still compete in Super Late Model competition when the national tours made their way north near his hometown of Winona, Minnesota. He ran with the Outlaws when they went to Mississippi Thunder Speedway for the Dairyland Showdown at the end of April and the beginning of May.

He also competed with them when they made their swing through the north to 141 Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway, I-94 Speedway, River Cities Speedway, Nodak Speedway, and Norman County Raceway. In the middle of that northern swing he ran under the G.R. Smith Motorsports banner after Drake Troutman left to join JFR Motorsports.

He would also compete in the USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway and made the trip south to Iowa for the FloRacing Night in America races at Marshalltown Speedway and Mason City Motor Speedway.

Outside of his Late Model, he focused on his Modified program. He bagged wings at Hancock County Speedway, Cedar Lake, Winneshiek, Mississippi Thunder, and recently put a cap to his year with the $10,000 to-win USMTS Featherlite Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek Speedway with a last lap, last corner pass on Brandon Davis.

In an interview with Kaden Holten on the Rev it up With Kaden YouTube channel, Timm was asked about his 2027 plans.

“They are kind of wide open,” Timm said. “I really enjoy what we’re doing right now where we’re just kind of running an open schedule and going to the bigger shows we want to go to whether it’s Mod, Late Model, IMCA, doesn’t really matter. I just want to go race big races, to be honest. I would say right now that’s probably our plan.”

“We’re considering running the USMTS Tour again,” he added. “I’m reaching out to different people and seeing what opportunities are out there. I’d say it’s wide open as of right now. I couldn’t tell you what I’ll be doing at this time next year.”

Timm last competed in the USMTS tour back in 2024 where he finished 2nd in the points behind Jim Chisholm. In 32 features he had three wins, 21 Top 5s, and 27 Top 10s. His three wins came at Humboldt Speedway, Cedar Lake Speedway, and Deer Creek Speedway.
