Joe Chisholm Leads NLMS Into Busy Three-Race Iowa Swing

  Press Release

After nearly three weeks away from competition, the USRA Kevko Racing Northern Lights Modified Series presented by Real Racing Wheels returns to action with a demanding three-race Iowa swing that could prove pivotal in the battle for the 2026 series championship.

The tour received an unexpected boost over the weekend when officials finalized a last-minute addition to the schedule, adding Saturday, July 11, at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. The tour will then continue north to Mason City Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 12, before wrapping up the three-race stretch Tuesday, July 14, at Winneshiek Raceway in Decorah as part of the annual Winneshiek County Fair.

The addition of Hamilton County Speedway transforms what was originally scheduled as a two-race weekend into a three-race swing across Iowa, giving competitors another opportunity to earn valuable championship points while providing race fans an additional chance to see the region’s top USRA Modified drivers in action.

Three races in four days will test both drivers and teams as they tackle three unique Iowa venues while chasing valuable championship points during one of the busiest weeks of the season.

Joe Chisholm enters the weekend as the driver to beat. The Osage, Iowa native has captured five victories through the first seven events of the season and carries a 57-point advantage over veteran Rodney Sanders in the championship standings. Parker Hale sits third, 102 points behind the leader, while Harley Dais continues to impress in his rookie campaign in fourth. Alex Williamson rounds out the top five entering the Iowa swing.

Hamilton County Speedway has become a familiar stop for the Northern Lights Modified Series after joining the schedule during the inaugural 2025 season. Brandon Davis claimed the series victory there on July 26 of last year, and another talented field is expected to battle for the $1,500 top prize on Saturday night. The event features a $100 entry fee, pays $300 to start the 24-car feature, and awards $100 to non-qualifiers.

Sunday’s stop at Mason City Motor Speedway offers an identical purse with $1,500 going to the winner, a $100 entry fee, $300 to start the feature, and $100 for non-qualifiers. Jacob Bleess earned the inaugural series victory at the north Iowa oval on June 8, 2025, and returns looking to repeat that performance while climbing the championship standings after missing two events earlier this season.

The richest event of the weekend comes Tuesday night at Winneshiek Raceway during the Winneshiek County Fair. The Decorah oval will award $2,000 to the winner, $1,500 for second, and $1,000 for third while paying $350 to start the feature. The event carries a $125 entry fee, pays $100 to non-qualifiers, and presents another outstanding opportunity for drivers to gain valuable championship points before the series continues its summer schedule. Brandon Davis captured the series’ inaugural Winneshiek Raceway event on Aug. 2, 2025, and returns as the defending winner.

With three races offering a combined $5,000 in winner’s purses and nearly 200 championship points available over the four-day stretch, consistency may prove just as important as outright speed. A strong weekend could significantly tighten the title chase, while another dominant performance by Chisholm could further cement his position atop the standings.
