JST Motorsports, owned by Jason and Shantel Tessier, announced that it has taken over ownership of Tanner Thorson’s No. 88 High Limit Racing Sprint Car.

In a press release shared to Thorson’s Facebook page, the team declared, “JST Motorsports out of Broken Arrow, OK is proud to announce that they have officially assumed ownership of the High Limit Racing team previously operated by RGM of York, Pennsylvania.”

“This transition has been in the works for many months, and we are incredibly grateful to Rod and Nancy Gross for their trust, support and dedication in allowing Tanner to build a team that can compete at a national level,” JST Motorsports continued. “We will always be thankful for our time together and for the promises they have kept over the years.”

The team then made clear its intention to continue competing with the High Limit Racing, “As we begin this exciting new chapter, JST Motorsports remains committed to competing in High Limit Racing for the foreseeable future. We are looking forward to building and growing this team and creating new successes with Jason and Shantel.”

JST Motorsports was the title sponsor for Thorson’s Rod Gross Motorsports team beginning in 2025. Thorson shared in a press released from Petersen Media at the time, “Jason Tessier and I met through Scott Sawyer and his support of the Smith Titanium company. As we continued to stay in contact and build a relationship, he and his wife, Shantel, had hinted at wanting to get a taste of High Limit Racing, and what it took to have a team at this level. We did some figuring, and put a really good deal together to have him come on board as our title sponsor, and we are excited for this new partnership.”

At the same time, Tessier indicated his interest in running his own High Limit Racing team, “With this being my passion, I strive to have a High Limit team myself and this is a great way to get my feet wet on that level and truly see what it takes.”

The team will operate out of a shop in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma near Tanner and his wife Shaylee’s home. According to a High Limit Racing press release, no crew changes are expected, “They’ll continue to run shop as normal with crew members Brinton Marvel and T.J. Nichols, plus father-in-law Stevie Smith offering his wealth of knowledge from afar.”

Thorson will debut under the JST Motorsports banner when High Limit Racing returns to action on August 20th when it begins its west coast swing at Santa Maria Speedway and also includes, Tulare, Placerville, Silver Dollar, Douglas County, and Skagit.

With JST Motorsports assuming ownership of the team, it also inherits the ‘6’ card in the High Roller Club, which pays out $175,000 over the season. However, the High Limit Racing press release notes that if the season ended today with Thorson 8th in the points standings the team would advance to the ‘7’ card for next year which would payout $220,000 through the 2027 season.
