Kenny Wallace put the blame on Austin Cindric after he saw his race at Martinsville get ended after he was brake checked multiple times by Carson Hocevar.
During the NASCAR Cup Series race, Cindric collided with the rear of Hocevar’s car multiple times before the halfway mark. The contact eventually crippled Cindric’s car and saw his day end with a DNF and ultimately a 36th place finish. He fell from a tie for 8th in the points to 11th. Hocevar now sits one spot behind him in 12th, just four points back.

Following the race, Hocevar commented on the contact telling USA Sports, “I got lost there for a second, but our car wasn’t great. But my guys worked on it pretty good there. And we kept on making round changes and front adjustments. We had a bad pit stop that unfortunately put us back, but luckily my guys rebounded. But it’s tough to rebound here. Even good cars get out of the game and they can’t recover. For where we were, just okay. We needed every advantage that we could have or things to go right, and they just didn’t for us. Luckily, it’s still in striking distance to 10th in points, I think, which would be good for us and our team.”
“I got full-throttled here in the Spring and I just think it’s Martinsville. I had a lot of fun and I think me and Austin have raced each other really well, or at least I’ve been pointed him by a lot. His cars have been really fast. I just think that’s just Martinsville. I just think we were having fun.”
“That’s just Martinsville.”

Wallace shared his thoughts on the whole ordeal during his Coffee with Kenny segment on Monday.
He said, “But more telling when the race was over, all the media, they go running to Austin Cindric. They go, ‘Austin, what did you think of Carson Hocevar brake checking you horribly?’ Austin Cindric goes, ‘No comment.’ That means he’s going to bust Carson Hocevar’s ass.”
“I think, and I’ve said it before, listen, Brad Keselowski did not wreck Carson Hocevar back. Nobody’s really wrecked Carson back. The only person that roughed up Hocevar was Corey Heim when he spun Hocevar out there at Naval Base Coronado. So by Austin Cindric saying, ‘No response,’ he said nothing. Are the drivers learning? Austin Cindric dropped from 8th in the points to 11th in the points.”
From there, Wallace described how he saw the brake checking, “Carson just started getting pissed, throwing a temper tantrum. He just started brake checking. Come up off the corner, he looks and he sees Austin Cindric on his ass, just slams on the brake. And Austin Cindric just pow. His hood flies up into the air. And then all of a sudden, Hocevar turns left, lets Cindric go back by then he gets back in front of him, brake checks him again. Carson Hocevar brake checked Austin Cindric three or four times. He knocked the whole front end of Austin Cindric’s car straight off.”
He then explained why it was Cindric’s fault, “I got to call a spade a spade. Austin, this was all your fault. You should’ve wrecked him windshield deep. Buddy, you do not let somebody do something like that to you.”
Wallace then instructed viewers to look up a Rusty Wallace highlight from North Wilkesboro where he let a driver pass him to only exact immediate revenge.
It is unclear what highlight he was specifically talking about, but in 1989, Geoff Bodine gave Wallace the bumper on the last lap, Wallace pulled up the track and let Bodine get around him only to give him the bumper in the final corner and take home the win.
Nevertheless, Wallace put the blame firmly on Cindric, “So Austin, that was all your fault. What the hell are you thinking? You should have wrecked him windshield deep. Take care of it right then. Take care of it right then. And that was the perfect place to do it: Martinsville. Because if you do it Miami-Homestead you could hurt him. You’re going awfully fast at Miami-Homestead.”
“You could have planted Carson Hocevar windshield deep and finished it off yourself. Instead you didn’t. So I blame all that— reverse psychology. You had your chance to be a hero and take care of your own situation. You should have took care of wrecking Carson Hocevar right then, right there. And you know what? Carson would have laughed because he would have sold more t-shirts,” Wallace concluded.
