A tight championship battle takes center stage as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to Eldora Speedway for the UNOH Clash on the Wabash this Friday and Saturday, October 9 – 10. The weekend features two complete racing programs, culminating with Saturday’s $50,000-to-win main event.
Saturday’s finale also includes a $5,000 ARP bonus for the highest-finishing eligible driver as part of the Big River Steel Bonus Program presented by ARP. Eligibility is based on the top 15 in championship standings.
Just 65 points separate the top three drivers in the Big River Steel Championship Standings Presented by ARP following the Pittsburgher. Brandon Sheppard leads, holding a 40-point advantage over Hudson O’Neal, who sits second. Defending series champion Devin Moran is third, setting the stage for two pivotal nights on Eldora’s high banks.
Ricky Thornton Jr. ranks fourth, just 20 ahead of fifth-place Brandon Overton. Max Blair, Josh Rice, Brian Shirley, Garrett Alberson, and Clay Harris round out the top ten entering the weekend.
Moran brings momentum back to his home state after a dominant victory in Saturday’s Pittsburgher at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The Dresden, Ohio, driver led all 70 laps and finished 7.502 seconds ahead of Tim McCreadie to collect the $55,000 top prize.
Super Stocks join the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Friday, with Modifieds completing Saturday’s lineup. Admission gates open at 4 p.m. each day, followed by hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
