Two weeks after reaching Victory Lane for the first time in 2026 at Airborne Park Speedway, Michael Wright backed it up on Thursday with his most significant win yet.
The Alburgh, VT driver led 26 laps and held off three-time track champion Travis Bruno to score his first career DIRTcar Sportsman Series East Region victory.
Wright and Bruno led the field to green in the 30-lap Feature, with Wright gaining the early advantage over Bruno’s No. 33R machine.
That lead was short-lived, though, as a caution on Lap 1, and another on Lap 4 for Jamie Begor slowed his momentum at the front of the field.
When the race resumed on Lap 5, Bruno snuck past the No. 78 car to take the lead, trying to earn his second career Series victory. But Wright wouldn’t go away, as he traded the lead with Bruno for five laps before ultimately wrestling the lead back from the Airborne veteran.

That was all Wright needed as he held on to earn the $1,500 victory, and his second win of the season at Airborne.
“Travis got me on that one restart, and I said I guess I have to start making the top work,” Wright said. “We found something on the top of (Turns) 3 and 4, and something in the middle of (Turns) 1-2.
“I have to thank all my sponsors that are with me and everyone that helps me every week. I wouldn’t be able to do this without everybody who supports me.”
Bruno settled for second after leading four of the first 10 laps. It’s the Morrisonville, NY driver’s fourth top 10 in his last five Series starts at Airborne.
Joey Scarborough finished third, extending his points lead to 28 points over Taylor Wason, who finished ninth.
Cory Castell crossed the line fourth, and Bodie Marks rounded out the top five.
