Sharon Speedway, Hartford, Ohio, was one of the first tracks to host an All Star Circuit of Champions race in 1970. Names like Doug Wolfgang, Bobby Allen, Dave Blaney, and Dale Blaney grace the all-time win list, spanning 115 races. Now, during the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline’s 116th event at Sharon Speedway, Nate Dussel won his first career All Star race and etched his name in the history books.

Starting 10th in the feature, Dussel worked his way through traffic with the help of a few cautions and one red flag. With 17 laps to go, Dussel made his way around Jeremy Weaver, who, until this point, had led every lap of the 35-lap feature. With laps winding down, Dussel pulled away from the field as Brandon Spithaler, A.J. Flick, Cale Thomas and Kalib Henry battled for second through fifth place. As Spithaler settled into second place, Thomas bided his time and passed Flick for third with three laps to go. With a clear track ahead of the top three, that’s how they’d come to the checkered flag.

“Been doing this for a lot of years. Ran a lot of All Star shows. Ran 19th at a lot of All Star shows,” Dussel said in the Gates Corporation Victory Lane. “It’s a tough group of cars around here. We’ve been really close the last couple of years, and that just made us want it more.”
