Nelson Motorsports announced it has mutually agreed to parts ways with driver Carson Loftin.

In an announcement shared to social media, Nelson Motorsports stated, “Over the past few years, Carson has been an integral part of our organization, and we are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and competitive spirit he brought to our team. Together, we celebrated many memorable achievements, including earning the 2025 CARS Tour Rookie of the Year title, securing a front-row starting position for the 2025 ValleyStar Credit Union 300, and numerous other milestones that contributed to our program’s growth and success.”

“We sincerely thank Carson for his commitment both on and off the racetrack, and we wish him continued success in his racing career and future endeavors,” the team added.

As for what the plans are for the team moving forward, it stated, “Additional announcements regarding the team’s driver lineup will be made public in the coming days, Nelson Motorsports will continue its 2026 season next weekend at Dominion Raceway, where both the No. 12 and No. 22 entries will compete for a CARS Tour victory.”

Loftin issued his own statement writing on Facebook, “After a lot of thought and consideration, Nelson Motorsports and I have decided to go in different directions. I want to thank Mr. Nelson for the opportunity to drive for him and his belief in me. I wish he and the entire team nothing but the most moving forward.”

“I look forward to racing with the zMAX CARS Tour and SMART Modified Tour as I move forward. I’ll announce my plans for the rest of the season soon.”

Loftin is currently 11th in the CARS Tour points after six features and 85 points behind current points leader Caden Kvapil. He was 1 Top and 2 Top 10s. That top 5 was a fifth place finish in the season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park back at the end of February. He most recently finished 6th at Langley Speedway.

Former NASCAR Weekly Series Champion Connor Hall reunited with Nelson Motorsports at Langley and Hall was dominant at his home track taking home the win. In a post-race interview with Matt Weaver, Hall indicated the partnership would continue with a couple more races in the future, “I’ve been begging Barry to run the SoBo 200 again. My goal is to go back to Nelson for a race or two because I miss those guys. My time there was super special to me. Barry Nelson will always hold a special place in my heart and racing career. I call him an uncle to try and be nice, but he’s really like a grandpa I don’t got.”

“The goal is really SoBo 200,” he continued. “And he hemmed and hawed and was like, ‘Well, if you run the 12 here and we can run here and here. So the gears are turning and we got to figure it all out. But the goal is to try to go for a three-peat somehow at the SoBo 200.”

When asked if he would race at Dominion, Hall said, “That’s the one I’ve got to decide on. Barry’s obviously got to talk to some sponsors and whatnot. I also got to go up there and do some stuff to the car. Like I’m a way bigger person than Carson Loftin. I got some work to do in a two-week span. … I don’t know what the next one’s going to be. Chance of June 13th at Dominion. Chance that it’s SoBo 200.”
