The American Sprint Car Series announced that it was canceling its event at Paducah International Raceway due to a lack of on-site safety equipment.

The series shared in a press release, “With a lack of safety equipment readily available on-site at Paducah International Raceway for the Mother’s Day Salute, American Sprint Car Series officials have decided to cancel their portion of Saturday’s event.”

“The decision was made in the best interests of driver and fan safety at the track. The Series’ safety policy mandates a level of safety equipment that the track was unable to meet at this time. The event will not be made up,” it added.

In a post to Facebook, the track revealed that it was unable to secure an ambulance. It stated, “We are cancelling this weekends Mother’s Day salute with American sprint car series. This was not a decision that we wanted to make. We tried effortlessly to make this show happen, the “lack of” on- site safety equipment is not being able to secure a ambulance due to multiple other events happening around the community as well as ambulance services are so short staffed. We appreciate them trying to take care of us and completely understand. All alternatives were unavailable as well.”

The track added, “It’s just not easy to make things happen when they fall through last minute. We sincerely apologize. We encourage everyone to head to Camden speedway this weekend and support them, both drivers and fans. We will be canceling the entire show to take the time to focus on track prep to ensure a perfect surface for the upcoming coming world 50. Thank you all and again we apologize and look forward to having you guys the rest of the year!”
