The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series announced that its tour stop at North Georgia Speedway on Saturday, March 7th has been postponed due to rain.
In a press release, the series shared, “North Georgia Speedway and Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series officials have jointly decided to postpone the track’s season opener until Thursday, March 12.”
The reason for the postponement are expected rain and thunderstorms expected to arrive in the area in the late afternoon and continue through the evening.
The race has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 12th. Additionally, with the postponement the race’s to-win purse has increased to $7,000.
The series and track are hoping to attract a number of World of Outlaws and national series drivers by moving the date to Thursday as the Outlaws will have a double header at Volunteer Speedway on Friday, March 13th and then move to Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday, March 14.
Along with the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series, Thursday’s rescheduled race will feature 604 Late Models, 602 Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Front Wheel Drives, and Stock FWD divisions.
Pit gates will open at 2 PM. The grandstands will open at 3 PM. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 5 PM with racing action scheduled to begin at 6 PM. Adult grandstand admission is $25.00. Kids ages 5-11 will cost $15.00. An adult pit pass is $45. Kids between the ages of 5-11 will cost $20.00. Children ages 4 and under are free in both the grandstands and the pits.
