Officials with the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP have announced that the Saturday, August 22 date at Atomic Speedway in Waverly, Ohio will now take place at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Storm damage on Saturday August 8 has promoter Charlie Vest at Atomic Speedway scrambling to get his facility back in order after high winds did significant damage to the property and even some of the catch fence. The promoter notified Series Director Chris Tilley yesterday and while the track will try and race on August 22, officials from Atomic and the series felt that moving this event would be better for all parties involved. “We wanted the series to still be able to host the event and moving it to Portsmouth was the best solution on such late notice,” stated Atomic’s Charlie Vest. “The security of getting an event in is very important,” said Vest.

The series will now race for 30 laps and $7,500-to-win at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday August 22 with the 23rd Annual CT Promotions Iron-Man Classic event being sponsored by Cheap Chevrolet of Flemingsburg, Ky. “Thanks to Charlie at Atomic and the Jent’s at Portsmouth for allowing us to move the Iron-Man Classic. It’s a special event for me and I know it’s been a tough year weather wise for a lot of folks but I’m thankful to have great promoters that I can work with and depend on in situations like this. I cannot thank Jamie and Judith Jent for taking this race on in such short notice,” stated Chris Tilley, Series Director.

This will keep the August 21-22 weekend an Ohio doubleheader as the series heads to MRP (Moler) Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio on Friday August 21 for the annual “Ike Moler Memorial” event paying $5,000-to-win.
