The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series announced that driver Emerson Axsom has been fined and put on probation following an off-track physical altercation that took place prior to the Driver’s Meeting at Cedar Lake Speedway on June 27th.
The series shared in a penalty report, “Axsom, who drives the No. 27 Sprint Car for Klaasmeyer/Petry Motorsports, was involved in an off-track incident that resulted in physical contact prior to the event’s Driver’s Meeting.”
The series noted that he violated Section 7, Paragraph F of its rulebook, which states, “Any member and/or participant involved in an altercation that results in physical contact will be subject to penalty and/or disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or legal action and/or any other action deemed appropriate by World Racing Group Supervisory Officials.”
He was fined $500 and put on probation for the remainder of the season.
At Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday night, Axsom started second and led 11 laps, but eventually finished in 11th. On Friday night, Axsom started 10th and finished 14th.
He currently sits 12th in the series points standings 676 behind current leader David Gravel. He is 66 points behind Bill Balog, who is 11th and has a 124 point advantage over Ashton Torgerson, who is currently 13th in the points standings.
