Terbo Tyler Erb did not enjoy the World of Outlaws Late Model Series trip to Maquoketa Speedway and expressed that displeasure in a post-race interview after he was involved in a wreck that saw him flip early in the race.
On Friday night, Erb’s night did not go as planned. He qualified 13th in Group A, which gave him a 7th starting position in Heat 1. On lap 3 of his heat race, he got sent flying off the track by Matthew Larson and did his best Dukes of Hazard impression. Terbo was none too pleased with the contact from Larson and found him as they went into turn 1 on the restart and gave him the door. After making contact with Justin Duty exiting turn 4, Larson was able to get back around him, and Erb made sure to find him again in the middle of 3 and 4 slamming into his right front.
He would eventually finish 7th in the heat, go to a Last Chance Showdown and finish 12th and have to a take provisional for the feature. He started 23rd and finished 16th.

On Saturday, after finishing fourth in his heat race and locking himself into the feature, DIRTVision chose to speak to him and see if he would comment at all on the events from Friday. Erb delivered a single line that has already become a meme, “I’m ready to go home.”

While he was able to advance to the feature, it quickly went sideways as he found himself upside down on lap three. However, his team was able to get the car back in racing shape and he raced his way to an 11th place finish.
In a post-race interview with Always Race Day, Erb shared what happened that led to the big pileup and subsequent flip as well as expressing his displeasure with the track, “Just three-wide. Race track’s terrible for three days. It was lap one and somebody was kind of just stuck in my left side door, or, quarter, or fender and I was kind of on them. And I thought like we were just in a slow motion skate and then obviously the guys behind us have nowhere to go and they’re kind of just like slowly you can feel people start like stacking up, stacking up. I was like, “Please, the last guy don’t hit me.’ I feel like the last guy on the Jenga block hit us and we all just kind of turned over. It just sucks.”
“The fastest car won and that’s what it takes to win these races. You have to have the fastest car and we didn’t,” he continued. “Definitely not a fan of this place. A couple years ago it was alright, but not very fun. Just tear it all apart, build everything brand new, and we’ll be back Wednesday at Oskaloosa.”
Terbo went on to comment about all the help he got to get the car back race ready after the wreck, “Everybody did a great job, Cody, Caleb, DJ, all the Rocket guys, TC. I think it just shows that no matter what, I don’t have Facebook, but what people on Facebook say, they have no idea. I had 50 people working on my car and those 50 people are way more capable than 500,000 that talk [crap] about me. I’m super grateful that everybody pitched in.”
“Obviously, the front end’s messed up or whatever. We did the best we could, but they did a good. There was so much [crap] tore up that I kind of was able to assess. … I knew it need a carburetor stud minimum. I don’t really know. It’s easier just to change the carburetor and go from there. They did a great job and we salvaged whatever we finished there. We’ll fix it all again and try again Wednesday.”
As Terbo noted the Outlaws are back in action on Wednesday August 26th at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa for the Corn Belt Showdown. Then they will head to Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa for the OSR Southwest Iowa Shootout Presented By Nutiren. The series Iowa trip concludes on Saturday at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa for the Harlan Late Model Showdown. They will then be off for about a month and won’t be back in action until September 25 and 26 for the King of the Arch doubleheader at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park.
He still remains third in the points standings. He is currently 362 points behind leader Bobby Pierce. He is 249 points behind Nick Hoffman for second. He has just a 60 point advantage over Tim McCreadie, who is currently fourth in the points. McCreadie had a solid weekend at Maquoketa with a 2nd place finish on Friday and 6th place finish on Saturday night.
