Following the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ the Dennis Erb Racing team was back in action on Wednesday, June 10 in the inaugural ‘Shale Crescent Dirt Cup’ at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio. The invite-only special event pitted the top twelve drivers in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series versus the top twelve drivers in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with a $20,000 payday on the line.
Dennis Erb, Jr. stopped the clock eleventh fastest in Group B during qualifying prior to finishing sixth in his loaded heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the eleventh row in the 50-lap headliner, Dennis was able to advance past seven competitors during the contest to land in the fourteenth finishing position.
On June 12-13, the #28 team invaded West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia for the ‘RaceFest Summer Championship.’ The two-day World of Outlaws Late Model Series weekend at WVMS kicked off with a $12,000 to win show on Friday night. Dennis won his heat race in preliminary action prior to finishing an impressive runner-up in the 40-lap feature behind only winner Bobby Pierce. In Saturday’s weekend finale, which boasted a $30,000 windfall, Dennis placed second in his heat race and sixth in the 60-lapper behind only victor Tyler Erb, Drake Troutman, Hudson O’Neal, Bobby Pierce, and Ethan Dotson.
Next up on the racing calendar for Dennis Erb Racing is a visit to 141 Speedway in Maribel, Wisconsin on June 19-20. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will make their debut at 141 Speedway, which starts later this evening with a $12,000 to win throwdown. On Saturday in the weekend finale in the Badger State, a $25,000 top prize will be up for grabs. Dennis currently sits tenth in the latest version of the national series point standings heading into this evening’s festivities.
